im swapping out my downpipe and i removed the factory heatshields on the Twins and im getting tired of fighting with them, are they really that necessary? BTW its a JDM so their a pain in the ***.
also i wanna chase the threads in the manifold and get new studs, offhand anyone know the Tap? Also size of new studs needed?
and lastly im running a oil temp, pressure and water temp gauge pod and im running the 3 wires in some split loom and need a half decent route to the cabin and ive looked and looked and cant find a suitable route. Is there a route through one of the fenders or something like that? any help would be really appreciated.

The heat shields are there for a reason. The extra heat will transfer to your motor mount, which I know has it's own heat shield... But the extra heat will cause your motor mount to degrade quicker.

For you wiring, remove a front wheel, remove the last 1/2 of the plastic wheel well fasteners, pull the wheel well back and you will see a roughly 2" round black rubber plug on the back portion of the wheel well. Above up near the top of the wheel well will be a large hole going into the engine bay with a bundle of wires going in. Pop the black rubber plug/or drill/punch a hole large enough for your application through the plug. Use a stiff wire or screw driver to poke through the insulation (there is already a round 1" "plug" cut in the insulation, it will pop out) to the inside of cockpit. Comes out left of the clutch if using the left side to route your wires.
It is clean, professional looking and requires no drilling...just a hole through the black plug. Factory made access...what more could you ask for? This is how I routed my turbo boost gauge hose. There's enough room so you could run a 5/8" garden hose through if you wanted.
