heater matrix return hose

I have modified the hose layout for my cooling system as a result of a 20b engine conversion. Currently the hose that comes from the heater matrix and connects to the lower part of the thermostat housing that goes to the radiator bottom hose sits quite near my external wastegate and comes back around the front of the engine instead of round the back. I was wondering if there is any reason I could not weld a fitting direct on to the bottom of the radiator and run the hose straight to that? Anyone got any ideas or done anything similar? I cannot see that it would cause a problem other than maybe the water might not get drawn through the heater system as well as it would not have direct draw from the water pump?
