heater fan switch

My heater fan switch only works in position 4. What is wrong and how can I fix it? How much? Thanks for any help.

I know that this is no help, but I have the exact same problem. I've had the car for about three months (a 1995 w/ 54k on it) and when I first bought the car, the 3rd position didn't work while every other one did. At some point however, it started to work again, and all four positions worked fine for 2.5 months! Then just yesturday, I went to turn on the heat, and only position 4 works. Looking back, the only thing that I can think of that I might have done to fix the original problem was that I disconected the battery to put a new one in. Maybe this reset everything. I'm going to try it again today, and we'll see what happens.
