the enclosed link was provided in a recent link re headlight "upgrades"
it is a (non-BS) engineering-rich link and as such should be read if you are in the process of modding your fd headlights. i thought it would be good to have a thread that would clearly set it out so as to provide a search related resource..

Yep, I've been preaching Mr. Stern's wisdom since 1998 and on the Mercedes forums.
It's one of the reasons why I just purchased Euro (E-code) H4 headlamps for the FD via Corksport, instead of the silly HID retrofits that use the stock reflectors/headlamp housings.
I relayed the headlights and run 130/110 watt H4's, and the light is bright, perfectly focused, and perfectly patterned.
That along with Dan's "how to" on headlamp alignment, and no-one flashes me.
