Head Unit Issues

ok my factory bose head unit straight up stopped working. Its 15 years old so I didnt really care. I ordered a pioneer 690 and began to try and install it. Does anyone on gods green earth know how to get the old head unit out because honestly I am ready to smash it untill i can pull the peices out.

mazda made this special key for it, BUT you can remove it with like a 14gauge wire through the sides of the unit, on the sides there caps that come off and the goes in, but poke it with the wire to push down on the clips, might take a little effort but will come off, once you have it off youll understand... Goodluck

You can go to AutoZone and buy the keys for it. 14 gauge wire won't be strong enough. Most people use coat hangars instead, however you risk cracking the plastic. I tried to remove mine with a coat hanger and ended up having to break mine into pieces to get it out. There are tons of threads on this in the Interior/Exterior/Audio section.
