Head light closing position adjustment?

My driver's side headlight does not quite close far enough. What do I need to do to adjust it to close properly? It probably needs to go down another 1/4-1/2".

Is it just the cover or the whole light housing? If its just the cover - take off the black headlight surround and you'll find two screws on the front of the headlight cover and two on the back which give room for adjustment.

If it's the whole light, there's a manual adjustment inside the engine bay outside the body headlight frame, it has a rubber boot on it which you can pull off and you'll find a red **** which you can turn manually to lower / raise the headlight.

Those are the emergency ***** for rasing the lights should the motor fail. If you adjust it and the motor works you'll find it returning to it's original position once it moves far enough off the limit switch. See if your cover isn't out of place first as mentioned above.

So does that mean if I have the lights stay open i can adjust it to the sleepy eye look>?

One of my lights is out of alignment too and it's not the cover, can the entire light bracket be realigned or something? It needs to go down about 1/4 - 1/2" the same as the OP's vehicle.

There is no adjustment up or down. However, the headlight brackets are secured on the inside and rear (as well as a few bolts on the top) of the bracket. If those bolts aren't on the inside and rear, then the whole assembly will bow up a little and cause the entire part to sit a little higher.

You either need a kit like the Knightsport kit, or you need to buy a headlight motor controller.

i think u can manually adjust to sleepy then pull the fuse/wiring to the motor? then u can switch the lights on and off w/o it moving up and down

There is a write up on here somewhere on how to modify the motors to have the lights stop in a different position to get the sleepy eye look. If you pull the fuse and adjust the light position to the sleepy eye position you want they will always have to remain in that position, where as if the motor modification is done then the head lights will move up and down normally (just not as high as original) . If you haven't had any luck searching for how to do the sleepy eye mod. perhaps majik with his amazing search skills can find it for you.

I've seen a few FD's with covers that werent aligned properly which is usually the case. These covers can be adjusted for a perfect fit in just a few mins of trial and error.
