ive seen those, they are awesome. i saw a few installed on cars when i was in japan.

no, you dont need a different tranny. they bolt on to the stock tranny like a shift **** almost.

they are so cool, instead of shifting in the H pattern, you just tap the stick forward or backward to shift.... to put it in reverse you have to like use two hands though i think...like one hand to pull a pin while shifting down or something like that.

thats a really good price too....most of the time i see them sell for $1600 or more for our cars.

i want one.... ooooo

You still have to use the clutch to shift with one of these things. I don't see how this would really make you any faster since all it does is perhaps speed up the stick motion and any good driver usually has good coordination between their clutch foot and shifter hand such that this wouldn't really provide any sort of benefit. Plus it's designed so the stick rests next to the steering wheel on a right hand drive car. On a left hand drive car the stick would be more of a reach than stock. Oh plus you've got that monstrosity sticking up out of your console. Doesn't seem like such a great idea to me.

no no, i dont mean you DONT have to use the clutch. of course you have to use the clutch!!! i was saying that its alot harder to miss shifts because it shifts so fast, so as long as your clutching is timed right you should have no problems.

also, it is not closer to the right side of the car. when you bolt it on, it goes on perpendicular to the ground, so it goes STRAIGHT up in the air. yes its up higher, but isnt that a good thing - less distance to move your hand to shift when using two hands to drive.

the gear LCD indicator can be positioned wherever you want also... (on the steering column maybe...)

At least in the RPS13 picture it sure does look like it's off to the right side of the console to be closer to the steering wheel.

I would be the forum member to have the Ikeya

Contrary to popular belief...it only looks high. It feels awkward at first, but you get used to it rather quickly. I got it to prevent all possibilities of mis-shifting/grinding gears...which is the cause of synchro failure, not shifting mad quick. It actually feels like I shift slower than when I had the H pattern. Yes you still have to press the clutch. No I don't recommend it for LHD cars since the shifter moves the lever closer to RHD driver's side...which would make it hard as hell to drive for LHD driver's.

Quite an intellegent response you have here. I GUARANTEE you I have spent LESS money than 99% of the single turbo car owners here AND have more HP to $$$ ratio. My car is so damn modified it's scary...

...Basically...keep hating...I'll NEVER see your tail lights "dumbass"

LMFAO!!! 2103 is a few years away Jason. I'd like to get a dogmission, but for street use I think the whining of the tranny would be too much....but I'd still get it.

All the talk on this thread and no actual experience with the shifter...I'd think the dogmission would be worse to drive than the ikeya(since the tranny would be super loud) but would be more visually "appealing" to all these stock rx7 owners with their stock bumpers, stock turbos, stock throttle bodies, no gauges, but with bling bling intercooler piping and their nice paint jobs

Something they had at the local turbo shop. It's contoured to fit the RHD rx7 though.

My street car is a race car. I drive a heavily ported 13B-rew with Cosmo LIM/UIM/20B Throttle body, OS Giken twin plate clutch and 90mm exhaust with no power steering or A/C....it's not a "comfortable" car and was never meant to be. Still, not enough money just yet to pick up a dogmission or an OS Giken crossmission.

Jspec Car's dont' come with lumbar support. That lever's there so the driver can push the passenger seat back without reaching all the way to the left of the passenger side seat.

oh and to be on topic....they use to make something (not this fucken extreme) for supras. And if I remember correctly you would be able to go back and forth between the normal H pattern mode and tap up and down mode...Though it only let you go through gears 1-4...could be wrong still drunk from last night...
