There is no point to doing this, just rebuild your motor or get a reman! Jeesh.

RHD JDM Shuto Kosokou bull____

I dont care about rhd or any other acronym. im saying EGR motha _ _ _ _ _

Emissions equipment! not fast and the furious.

that I've got a fat chunk of change for a Factory service manual and a crapload of junkyard parts (thanks to lovely Chula Vista.) and every pick ur parts within a thousand miles but none of those fools have Squat when it comes to rotary engines only rusted out engines that have been baking in the sun forever.. after buying my NA for a cheap thrill about a year ago, I think im ready to take on a learning process that may take years. but i got the pocket. the extra space and also a lot of knowhow(from my previous foray of the piston kind) so if you wanna dog me go ahead. whatever Rx7 i buy next for me to tinker with isnt just some fad, i truly like the intrepid sense of something totally different that the rotors of the 13b offer. and unfortunately my 87' NA just isnt cutting it.. . . . . . . . .. . .. .

im just saying can i swap the drivetrain legally like i can in a friggen kia

i just was wondering if you could take the motor from and of the japanese FD's to the american FD chassis in california. but since guy said emissions were different i guess not. Just the shortblock is what im askin...

Right hand drive would be a pain in the *** anyhow.

not trying to start a flame war or nothin...

I've got a JDM motor on the ground in my garage at the moment...

if u weren't in Cali would be straight forward...

but the JDM motor has no EGR...

u could always stick "american" parts onto the JDM motor..

but than u'd be in the same situation as buying a Reman..

unless by rolling chassis u mean it has No engine or Tranny or Wiring/ecu?

A short block in RX7 work is just a core engine block, no components. This is a little different than what other car groups call a shortblock. In this case, pretty much all 3rd Gen "shortblocks" are the same. It's components around which have differences. If you have US components, you could use a JDM shortblock.

Thanks a bunch

YES!!! thats what i was asking.
Only having 8k or so to put into this project.

basically im asking if you could use the rotor and housing parts of the engine itself without having to get it rebuilt first. and whether its legal or not to use the japanese transmission (if the roller has none)... Cuz the way im looking to do it is take the american chassis. and fit a japanese FD transmission(if needed) and Shortblock but have all the Manifolds, and emissions equipment be Of the USDM persuasion in hopes of making it past the smog officials.

Kinda like how those Hondas are having a japanese b16 SI-r motor in cali but then adding all the Civic del sol smog equipment to make it legit and street legal..." i dont care about the japanese aspect its just IMPOSSIBLE to find a WORKING U.S. non smoking non oil Devouring 40,000 mile FD motor for a reasonable price.
