Question Has anyone tried this racing trick?

I was told by another 3 Gen. rx7 owner, that if you pull out the ABS fuse, it should free up 15 Hp. Has anyone tried this? I would assume this would be only used for straight roads with out traffic lights and 1/4 mile racing.

The way he described it ,he said it takes some Hp to use abs brakes, then if you pull the fuse,it'll free up Hp.It don't know if it works or if it's true.

The ABS pump is powered by an ELECTRIC motor and only draws power when operating - usually at the point of MAXIMUM DEACCELERATION when you don't need any ENGINE power anyway

whoever told you that deserves a

Well, you can tell your friend that by taking out the fuse for the ABS, you will theoretically go faster due to the weight reduction.

beleive it or not guys I have heard of this once. I was in a small creperie nestled deep in the Andes studying the art of tom foolery with my master, the great Shamzami when I heard some sounds in the near distance. The sounds were the continous and unabashed moans of a large women deeply entranced in some sort of spiritual knowing. I found myself drown to her, pulled by the same force that had brought me to this place. As I neared her table, a force, so mystical, forthknowing and pure, began to completely surround me when suddenly..our eyes were drawn together and met. ...Then, from the sky a huge flash of light fell on the creperie and with its descent the lady slammed my head into the table and said "IT WAS THE ABS FUSE, DON"T YOU SEE!!!!!!!!!!!!"

If he convinces you to do this then he'll prolly ask you to race him to test it out. During the race, if he's winning, he'll pull over into your lane and lock up the brakes right in front of you..... he has ABS and you don't.
You rearend him causing mucho damage and the po po's will give you the ticket for not having control of your car. He gets a huge insurance check and your insurance goes through the roof.

Just what I thought when I first read this.

no no no....you gotta get rid of the power steering for 15 hp. not the ABS. the ABS is only worth 6-8 hp.

I just buy a can of VTEC from the Honda dealer and pour it in the oil sump. Biggest gain I've had since I took off the rear hatch and covered it over with Saran Wrap and duct tape!*$&%^#$

you fools, you will only get the full benefit of pulling the ABS fuse by also removing at the same time the doors, hood, trunk, and those pesky , heavy rotors and calipers. And while you're at it who needs the exhaust past the downpipe.
