Jeeeeeze... I thought you guys knew better than that...

It's the tires that must be removed in order to maximize both acceleration and braking! This gain is due to the massive decrease in rotational inertia (all those heavy steel belts on a 10" radius!).

Good luck (hehe),
Manolis

The only way you will see an advantage by removing the ABS Fuse is if you also remove the brake pads and drain the brake fluid. This will allow the car to take down hill runs faster than any other RX7 out there. Another mod was mentioned that is good for at least 3.141592654 horsepower gain. That was the muffler bearings. When these are installed, the exhaust has less back pressure due to the fact that the bearings are installed instead of the standard sleeve bushings. The exhaust flows quicker out of the engine due to this.

A final gain in horsepower can be achieved by replacing the winter air in your tires with summer air (less density), attaching sneezepins to each of the balljoint connection points(reduces your chance of sneezing in a turn), and installing an engine bypass using the left handed metric crescent wrench (a bit difficult to do). Combined, you should be able to achieve around a total of 40-50 HP gain (HP=Horses *** for listening to a Peon).

Tim

PS No offence, just had to get my two cents in also. Someone else mentioned the accident scenario, and I can believe it if this person is not your close personal friend. There are many GOOD RX7 owners out there, but because of the value and uniqueness, there are several BAD RX7 owners looking to scam you. I have seen it myself.

Tim you made some really good points here, I think we should archive this thread. In case anyone wants to know where they can get all these high performance parts Tim was talking about look here http://www.kalecoauto.com/

Not that this will gain any HP, but if you wax your car really good with 3 coats of polish you'll be able to slip through the wind easier and go at least another 20 mph! I've done it on my VW thing.!

Remember, it has to be 3 coats of wax or it won't work!

Actually this is a racing trick of sorts. Alot of the Honda Guys do it when they autocross. Its seems to help but not in the way of freein up any horsepower. It helps to create more overstreer under braking which in most cases will help with better times on the track with cars prone to understeer. It may have been misunderstood along the chain somewhere on how it actually improves lap times in certain cars. As it would seem you dont catch any breaks from these guys on here. Hope I cleared up the misunderstanding for you.

Now this does sound like the truth and makes sense.

But if anyone wants to believe the original statement, I have some wiffle bearings that can be installed in minutes... Guaranteed to... Aaahh forget it.

Just remember - "It's always better to rotate than reciprocate!"

you should also always drain your blinker fluid before going to the track. and usualy leave the lefthanded smoke shifter at home on track days. but my best weight saving mod and braking mod other than pulling the abs fuse to date has to be my cross drilled and slotted brake lines. wow! what a difference.

Man!! I completely forgot about the turn signal fluid. What a weight savings that is. Thanks for reminding us.

i just ordered the crossdrilled brake lines, engine block oil bypass, and radiator insulator from there to complete my reliability mods.

i heard you need these cross drilled brake lines in order for the abs fuse mod to free up the most torque. and it is TORQUE, not horsepower. that is why these guys have been giving you such a hard time, dummy. get with the program here.

Don't forget to make sure that car doesn't over heat by taking a garden hose and spraying your interior down (make sure to get you shifter and gauge cluster). Remember the cooler the car the faster she goes...

p.s. make sure to also follow the previous guidelines inorder to make the most Hp out of your ride....

damn, you guys are mean!!!!!!

Funny stuff but mean!!!!!!

I tell ya what though, if you want to save a ton of weight empty the fuel tank!!!!!! When full that thing weighs about 150lbs!!!!!! Draining all the fuel makes a huge difference!!!!! Actually, to hell with draining just remove the whole damn thing!!!!!

Good Luck,
STEPHEN
