I don't see how you could possibly do so, I'm almost 100% sure the dash has to come out.

Take dash out. You will go crazy trying to find alternate routes when that time waiting on posts let alone actually doing that procedure someone will say will prob be triple the time when you could just go out right now to your car and undo like 4-6 bolts and the dash is out in less than 15 minutes.

Right on, does the gauge cluster need to be removed? I did this back in 2000 but I was probably drunk so I can't remember much.

I can already see myself removing a ton of goodies. It's about time my car gets put on another diet.

Just remove the dash, it's much easier this way. Remove the blower motor while you at it, if you haven't done so already. Once the dash is out it becomes much easier to remove the other odds and ends. It's also a good time to remove the air bag wires, etc...

Yep, I plan on removing all the airbag wires, air bag computer, heater core, ac core, blower, that big black pad on the firewall and whatever else I find under there. It would be nice if I could get my fd down to 1,199 lbs....... and still have the interior

i pulled out my dash and found that it was easier to take out the seats just for room. I think there is something like 10 bolts. 1 bolt both sides, 1 top center on dash, 1 next to gas pedal, 2 on the steering colum, 2 on the transmsion hump.

It is impossible to take the heater core out w/o pulling the dash off simply because basically the aircon crap are mounted to the firewall "behind" the dash.

Taking the dash is not that hard but it's time consuming and you better have a friend to help you when pulling & mounting the dash back.

Basically once you take out the A/C facia and cluster, there are 2 bolts on each side of the dash. 4 just under the A/C face (2 on each side) and one hiding underneath demister grille plastic at the center. Once done, you should be able to pull out the dash. But there are sockets you need to unplug in order to take the dash out of the car. (Two huge sockets, blue in color on each side of the dash, and some little ones in the middle area).

Once you've taken out the dash, you can see one big A/C setup made out of 3 seperate black plastic boxes joining one after another. They are mounted by several bolts. I'm not sure which one's the heater core but...

And oh, incase you want to replace the carpet, I recommend doing this is at the same time. Because to take the carpet off "properly" i.e w/o cutting, you would need to take the A/C setup off.

Hope that helps

I won't be replacing the carpet but I will be taking out for a intense cleaning. I plan on removing a ton of un-used weight from behind the dash

Yeah, I found that by mistake a few years ago and removed it right away. What else is under the dash that can be removed? I don't use my ac and heater so........ Also, there is a air bag computer under there correct?
