If you've removed the 4 bolts that hold the rack to the engine subframe, and disconnected the power steering lines, and unbolted and disconnected the coupling of the steering shaft from the rack, then the only thing holding it "in" would be the tie-rod ends.

There aren't that many possible options. Sounds like you may have just overlooked something.

I've actually got everything removed and the rack is floating in its space... i.e. nothing is attached. But I can't figure out how to get the damn thing out w/o unbolting and dropping the subframe.... any ideas?

It should be fairly obvious if it's hanging up on anything. If it's not the engine, not the power steering lines, not the steering linkage and not the tie-rods, then it should come out. The two brackets on the front of the engine cradle shouldn't be keeping it from coming out if pulled forward and down unless the sway bar mounts are in the way.

I've installed one easily without the sway bar mounts on the car, but never checked to see how close they were to the rubber boots on the ends of the rack when installed, so that might be your problem.

I unbolted everything and then even tried removing the boots to free up some more space for it to move around but it won't come out... I may need to try removing the two places where the sway bar bolts to the car... I just want to be done BTW I LIKE your bushings their GREAT! I guess I need to remove those two pieces and hope the damn thing comes out... hmm
TIA

the last power steering rack i removed i had to lower the sub-frame. it wasnt on an RX but most cars are similar. its not that hard to lower it if you decide you have to.

good luck.
