Has anyone done any serious weight reduction?

Like, remove ABS, PS, A/C, airbags, etc etc, but left pretty much the rest of the interior untouched?

I don't know if you'd call that serious weight reduction, but that's how my car is.

I for one will be deciding this summer if the A/C stays or goes. I regard air bags & ABS as something more than "creature comforts" and if i want to drop the 2lbs that cruse control will save me i'll take something out of the boot.

i kept my ABS, but ditched the P/S, A/C, airbag/sensors/computer, stereo...

my A/C wasn't working, and i prefer to cruise around with the windows down and the sunroof open anyway. i went with an aftermarket steering wheel, so i ditched the airbag sensors and computer while i was at it. the Bose stereo was crap, so i pulled all that out. P/S was just for ***** n' giggles, but i have other reasons for it as well.

basically i wanted to simplify everything as much as possible, without making any sacrifices i couldn't handle. for the P/S i'm going to convert my steering rack to a "true" manual rack (there's a write-up floating around here somewhere).

my interior looks fine, but obviously the steering wheel is different and the stereo is gone. in place of the stereo is a black plastic panel with a turbo timer and battery killswitch mounted on it. also i have a shift boot and e-brake boot from RedlineGoods.com, who also wrapped my center console in leather so my interior is basically clean and whatnot, but i've removed a ton of other stuff. if i ever change out my carpet, i'll scrape the sound deadening material as well, but appearance-wise i'll keep my interior "intact."

I have no A/C and the air bag + cruse control will be going soon (Once my new wheel gets here from Italy). I also have plans to remove the P/S and have the rack converted. As for the ABS, im keeping it cause it has saved my *** from flying off a cliff more than once already. You can lose a lot of weight by replacing the oem exhaust, battary, and seats.

Just remember to take it ez when it comes to the weight loss. My last car was a fully gutted S13 (I had no tar, no carpet, no back seats, no nothing really) and the car felt awsome pushing it but suxed as a daily driver.

Stock FD seats are relatively light weight compared to other cars. Not that much of a gain there.

There are many more items that are more beneficial than what you listed. Your "serious" weight reductions are more common practice for many modded FDs. If you wanna loose real weight get rid of those stock twins, stock precat, main cat, and catback.
