Haltec vs PFC vs AEM
Haltec vs PFC vs AEM
yes, I realize there is a forum dedicated for ecus
and yes, I did search....
I am going to get an aftermarked ecu this week:
will the PFC do everything that I need it to? I am going to eventually go single - I just want a simple, effective stand alone unit that I can set up once and not have to worry about unless I am making dramatic changes.
is setting up the haltec worth the bother? I have been told that getting ac & power steering going with the haltec is a chore, but it is a great unit cause you can rip out a great amount of stuff from under the hood. I have also been told that it is the most powerful of the units available
is the AEM worth waiting for? as of now, I don't think it is available... is it going to be a good compramise between the PFC & haltec? anyone have any real world experience with it?
any and all opinions will be greatly appreciated
thanks

I think the PFC should be fine. Is there a way to tune on the fly without having to have a laptop handy? I like the PFC because I dont have a laptop and I dont really want to spend the money on one right now or whenever I need to upgrade a ecu.
I don't think anyone is really going to know about the AEM until it's available and people get a chance to mess with it.
If you love your car, get something that's already tried and true. Let other people experiement with the new stuff.

What about the Tec-3:

I have been looking at it for the adjustability and the built in ignition system.
It cost more but if you put in the cost of the ignition its about the same. The 3rd gen ignition and the placement of the coils are terrible.
They are going to use it on the new single turbo project SCC.
