Had to much fun today.....

My metering oil pump had failed last week, the week before I had just installed new turbo's. So I was alittle tired of working on the car and I priced out having it done. Mazda first told me that they had to remove the motor to change it out, when I questioned them on that they told me their "ace tech" could do it for $500 in the car. After thinking about it, I called mazdacomp and had them overnight a pump and drove the RX back on the ramps. Having never done it before, it took me 2 hours to get it out and another hour to clear out enough parts to get the pump electrical pigtail fished out. The installation went better then I thought it would, alot of blind work with tape on the sockets to retain the nuts. SO now I'm done and all the resistance checks are up to par. Now I am waiting on a stock computer on monday, the pump failure fried the "puter". Hopefully, she will be cured after that and I can hook up my PFS and enjoy those new twins. These FD's are definitely a labor of love but when they deliver they bring the biggest smile to your face. So for now I'm keeping the faith and waiting on monday for my computer so I can enjoy my endeavors. The boost gauge will ultimately tell the story. Sorry for the ramblings, just had to let it out.

Take Care,
André

How did you find out it went bad...engine code? Also, did your car go into limp mode....loss of power?

An easy way to replace it is to take the undercover from under the car off and disconnect the oil lines and un-bolt the pump....then go up top and unplug it, and then go back underneath to fish it out. This way you take off the minimal amount of parts. Just in case you have to do it again.

Actually I have been in the limp mode for a week, put a quart of 2-stroke oil in the tank. I measured my 0-60 time it was 34 seconds. You make it sound easy just do this and that, its actually a lot more pain in the *** then that. Drop the sway bar, pull out my turbo pipes, remove intercooler, air pump, alternator, throttle body, accessory brackets, vacuum chamber, pressure chamber, M2 intake and all the tube connections, disconnect multiple vacuum lines, remove primary tutbo inlet elbow, greddy elbow, oil fill spout, and I can't remember the rest. You have to keep skinning back until you have access to all to remove and then reassemble in the blind. Those who have done it can relate, those who haven't hope they never have too.
