guy who'd never seen an FD before...
truth is, most of the time people look in wonder simply because it isn't a sheep in a herd of sheeps(99% of the cars on the road are less than 5 years old). i get looks while riding my ducati because it doesn't sound like a rice rocket(even though it's just a touring model), i get looks in my car because it is red, older and clean. even the old tank mercedes turbo diesel i get people giving thumbs up to me while driving, because it is still quite nice looking yet has 400k+ miles and runs perfect while being 30 years old now.

Is that currently this year
The one i hate is, hey that thing looks like a mini viper. I can not stand vipers so i just want to slap them in the face. Funny thing no one knows what it is in Montana, but i pulled to a stop sign and some kid probly 13years old goes nice rx7, ha i was like wow someone has been playing too much video games.
I get that a lot too. For all the talk about chicks and cars my experience is that it's a bro magnet. I get thumbs ups and asked about the car almost everyday. Every once in awhile flashed by a nice set but most of it's from guys young and old. While some girls do dig the car it quickly becomes the other women.
I was most offended when a bumpkin in a cobra mustang, said "love the body kit on your Miata" I gave him a breif look at my tail lights when I pulled off.

I think the total # of US model FD was around 18,000 it's in a book I have. Ten year ago only 9,000 or so were register in the US. Most were are in Cali and Florida.
There was a post somewhere in this section by a guy with DMV info that showed the total number import...15,xxx iirc and that there were 9,xxx registered on the road still. Once again iirc this was a couple of years ago which led me to make an educated guess that the number was most likely 8,xxx now.
* turbo manifold
* 4" exhaust fabrication
* V-mount
along with of course RE-TUNE....
Then back on the road to get some paint...
Never know. Lots of idiots out there. OP should have pursued and see where it took him. If it was all just convo, then cool he had a cool convo and still kept the car. If he actually sold the thing, it would be for a price our market isn't used to.
There are idiots out there that would pay such a thing. Just plain idiots and idiots who have money out the ***.
Almost like the idiots that buy cars off ebay. I still lol @ that.

i would have said 30k, maybe he would took the bait C=.
I can get that deal local, and I don't have to wait for it to be shipped, possibly getting cosmetic damage along the way.
You know, southern San Diego has proven to be a desolate car enthusiast city....VERY disappointing.
I look forward to the various types of encounters I'll experience once I bring my FD out here.
These kinds of threads make me happy and excited.
I miss the type of attention and admiration that you get when driving an FD...it's definitely different from driving any car, for sure.
A 16+ year old car that still turns heads...Gotta love it.

I had a guy in 2002 think my old white FD was a 2002 Probe.
I had a policeman write 2004 Mazda RX7 on a ticket.
This most recent FD caused a commotion with the construction workers next to my friend's condo. They had a bet that it was a viper or a corvette. lmao

I think the Lotus community here in Buffalo is bigger than the FD crowd but for some reason, a stock FD in Buffalo people tend to just shrug off. "One of them older vettes", if I had to guess what people think... I drool when I see a FD in good shape, stock or not.
My favorite has to have been, I hang around a GM dealership alot so my car I have my car parked in the new Camero, Vette, and Others line up. I do that so i don't get doored or anything like that and my car looks in or better quality than anything in the line up. I just parked my car one day and got out and a guy comes up to me and says what is that! I have my Efini badge, RX-7 badge still on the back. So the guy approaches me and I stand next to my car and he comes over inquiring if this car is the new Vette. Well after a 15 minute conversation on the car, I sent him inside to talk to a saleman I knew and about 45 minutes later the guy came out thinking he ordered one in. He was sure shocked when he came back a week later when the salesman told him it was a 1992 Efini RX7 that he thought was a new Vetter. I drive a Silver 1992 Efini RX-7. I love it.

LOL "HEY!!! This isn't what I ordered!!"
Oh man, I can't wait till my Financial Disaster is here in San Diego. It's gonna be a game-changer, I tell you.
It's also one of the factors in determining the location of my first house, if I end up buying one out here. I want a safe area that has a big garage and lots of additional parking in the driveway, etc.
lol :P

And my situation is...complicated.
I do think that a garage is going to be a must-have in my next apartment. My leaes is up next month, so the wifey and I are out apartment shopping. :P
I bought my FD from a guy that worked for the Nike Corporate Dept. in Portland. The car had a Nike swoosh parking sticker on the lower drivers side of the windshield. There were several times when people asked me what kind of car it was. I pointed to the sticker, and told them it was a Nike
There were actually a few people that believed me!!!

Shame on them for actually believing you, though! haha
At home I may or may not see an FD every several months. Here, you can see one at least once a week if you live any a city of a reasonable size. Practically every other day if you live in Tokyo.
If someone offered me above BB value on mine I would take it though. I am not that attached to it though it is my only daily driver since I am redoing the body on my SE. I feel that even when I make the car truly mine if someone offered me enough maybe $5-10k over what I had in it at the time I would take it. Still it pained me to sell my FC for as low as I did.
I have been getting a ton of comments from people about the car in the few short days I have been driving it, I had a couple of people from work coming out just to see it start up and idle quietly for a few minutes. People ask me what it is though and I don't keep them in suspense for long, though those who know me know I only drive rotary.
