I am working on a 93 fd rx-7 and the car was running fine until i washed the engine two days ago i tested the starter, Checked good, swapped the battery and the battery is good,

this is what it does,
when i put the key in, and turn it, all lights come on like normal on the dash, but when i go to start it, nothing, no cranking, no clicks, nothing.

is there any solenoids or relays in the bay that i specifically should look at?

 

Check your grounds ? Then check your fuses there are a few that stopped mine from starting

 

Probably a really bad ground. I would clean the terminals and cable attachments to the battery well. If you still can't get it to start take a set of jumper cables and hook just the black cable to the battery and run the other end to the intake manifold or an easy metal engine contact point. If that doesn't work check the heavy gauge power wire that runs to the starter.

This is a strange thing to diagnose while not being included. I'm sure it's something simple...

 

will do, they did a battery relocation to the trunk and it lookc kinda crappy so thats one thing i will have to fix also, this is my first FD i am pretty familiar with the FBs but FDs is a whole new world for me.

I will check those today. I just wish they would have left the battery on the stock location.

 

Power to the starter goes from the ignition to the solenoid on the starter

which is then powered by a direct feed form the battery ( or almost direct depending on your bat relocation ) .. since this happened after a wash . I dont think your ignition went out , But you can start by checking that if you have a test light . ( you should ) connect it to the wire that goes to the solenoid and make sure its getting power when someone cranks the car . If so . Then do the inverse and check for weak grounds

 

Have you looked at any stored PCME Fault Codes?

blow everything out with compressed air and cross your fingers.

 

yeah, this is the first thing something like this happens to me, and i have done the same thing in older cars.

 

I have a suspicion that the eighter the EGI or the main circuit relay is bad, i took out the green one and now i the fans come on when i turn the key and the FP primes.

 

As in all such simple electrical devices, follow the current flow paths with a voltmeter.
You do have one, don't you?
(1) starter control system
(2) actual starter

That is what the FSM is for.
Do you have the knack?

 

i check the starter relay and it seems to be working, i am getting power to the positive on the starter but not to the signal wire when i turn the key, i started the car yesterday using a wire from the batery to the starter and it fired right up. today i will trace the cable from the ignition and see what is causing the problem, thanks to all that keep throwing ideas out there.

 

H302 Relay from the driver side Kicker panel, I believe is the starter cut relay might be bad, i am not getting power from the blue/white cable to the black grey one, anyways thanks to the ones that try to help.

 

I'm too lazy to look in the shop manual, plus I don't know what model year your car is, so I can't even look at the right wiring diagrams. Are blue/white and black/grey the fat wires or the thin wires?

You can jumper the two fat wires together to bypass the relay. I had to do it on my car a while back.
