You can't just 'buy' gulwing doors. You'll have to have a shop fabricate the new parts.

I think I heard about $7500/door for the conversion.

Search! There is a thread on it along with pics, pricing and a few companies who can do the conversion for you.

I'm assuming by "Gull Wing", he's talking about the roof supporting the hinges and the doors rotating outward and up (instead of the Lambo Doors rotating toward the front of the car). Like the Delorean:

I don't know if the FD roof has enough support for something like that. You'd have to tear up the car pretty good to do that.

One of the tuners in Japan was doing the lambo doors, however, its like $14K for both doors, and you have to ship the car to japan.

It runs on garbage.. Just put it in a food-processor that is strapped to the gas tank, and it'll hover!

Okay.. I'm on crack (figuratively people, don't go calling the feds) cause my company just avoided bankruptcy... Now I'm not so scared of shelling out the $$ for the scoot hood!!!

The cost of having the conversion done IMO costs way too much for and benefit besides the "cool" factor. It will probably add extra weight to the car. ~shrugs~

Actually the whole reasoning behind these doors was to make it easier to open them up in confined spaces. I think they require (est.) 1/3 less space to open up over conventional doors.

That's cool and all, but man, I would put that money towards a 3 rotor long before I cared about my doors opening skywards. Tom

Unless the topic starter has the names wrong, it isn't. I believe these are called Butterfly or Scissor doors?

Hype. The car just looked futuristic... in 1985.

The stock engine was a 2.85 liter 90-degree V6 with overhead cams that made 130 horsepower @ 5,500 rpm, and 153 lb-ft. of torque @ 2,750 rpm... not exactly a screamer, and the car weighed about 2,700 lbs. with a full tank of gas. They were rated at 8.5 seconds 0-60, a top speed of 130 mph, and did the quarter in about 16.5 @ 85 mph. In other words, a stock '02 Ford SVT Focus would kick its ***.

The Delorean's doors need about 11 inches of clearance between it and the car next to it to open the doors. Someone on the Mass RX7 list said he went to a car show around here (don't remember which one it was) and said that he saw a delorean there with a 20B stuffed into it. I haven't seen the pics yet, but I know the guy and I don't know why he'd lie about it. I should see if I can get the pics of it.

Yep, you are right... You would think the Delorean would require alot of space for the doors to open but that isnt so.. I have my Delorean pretty close to the wall in my garage and its not a problem to get the door all the way open in the tight space.

And Back to the Future rules!!! All you fans get ready for the DVD collection that comes just in time for Christmas!!!
