Question Guess my track time...

i just thought it would be fun for everyone to try and guess my track time. my motor isnt yet installed in the car along with the rest of the parts. i am documenting all throughout the whole process so once i start developing some cameras ill set up some pics for you all. ill give you a list of everything that i am installing and such...

rebuilt 13b-
stage 3 twin turbos non sequential@ 17psi
hks mega flow intake
dp, mp, apexi gt spec exhaust
apexi pfc + commander
greddy 2 row fmic
pwr radiator
ultimate fuel system from rx7store.net
apexi avc-r boost controller
blitz dual turbo timer
new hoses
new ground wiring
new spark plug wires new sparks
greddy elbow
greddy type s bov
efini y-pipe
short throw shifter
new clutch and counter weight....

so out of all these upgrades what do you guys think i will be hitting in the 1/4 mile...i think my peak hp will be around 470-490...and i will be getting some slicks for the track also...so have a guess at it...

Most people think they are great drivers until they run the 1/4. Its a lot harder then it looks. I would guess 12's with ease, and potential to hit 11's once everything is working properly

If those are BNR stage 3's, you won't make 470-490 if you are talking rwhp at 17 PSI. More like 370-390rwhp.

lol, with the BNR's? Not likely. My buddy has them and all the bolt on's (1600cc injectors, etc), large streetport from Pineapple and dyno'd at 380rwhp at 17 PSI (tune from Steve Kan).

Unfortunately, he blew the motor last week at the drag strip.

EDIT: The most I've heard so far with them is a little over 400rwhp which was SPOautos I believe. Garfinkle has the newer version I believe so it will be interesting to see what happens with them.

As I said above, all bolt-on's as well as a street ported engine.

Take your list above, remove the turbo timer, add an MSD Ignition upgrade and some suspension mods and that's basically what he has (aside from some different brands of components).

well if its only around 380rwhp that im going to be getting...it will spool up faster than a single and sequential so i think it would be still best in the long run

That's fine. I'm not saying it won't be good, I'm just saying it's not going to be 490rwhp in the slightest at 17 PSI.

Maybe this should be a "guess my horsepower" thread instead of "guess my E.T." thread.

Some people seem to think that X horsepower pretty much guarantees Y second passes at the drag strip, but while a specific horsepower level may mean the potential to run that time, experience, tires, and track conditions play a larger role in determining what the car will actually run.

There's a saying... "you're only as fast as your last run". Take the car to the track and then tell us what it will run.

I would think that the BNR's could pump out some more power then that. My friend just dynoed his 94 FD w/

Mazda Reman Motor (stock ports)
Stock Twins (82,xxx miles strong)
Apex'i PFC tuned to 14psi
HKS DP
MP
M2 Dual Cat Back
K&N Intake
550/1300 injectors
Supra Fuel Pump

and he dynoed at 330rwhp with the AFR's being below 10:1 from about 6000rpm to redline...his car was so far off tuned, that we have to go back and get it fully tweaked...since we were under the impression that is was already tuned by Hitman when he bought it, or so we were told. So we simply went in just to see how much she was putting down and possibly just to do some minor tweaks...but it was so far off, that the tuner had to let off the first three passes because the AFR's kept climbing above 16...so he added a **** load of fuel and got it at least safe to drive home...and it still laid down 327rwhp 298lbft @ 6900rpm.

We are going back in on July 23rd for the final tuning...and are hoping to hit around 350rwhp or so....and that is with stock ports/turbos. I would think the BNR's should be somewhere around 400rwhp@17psi given all things alike.

You'd think that but if that were the case, there would be several dyno sheets around showing it since there are quite a few BNR's running around.

I'm sure it can be done, just like getting over 400rwhp on stock twins. However, will everyone be able to do it? Doubtful.

IMO, you aren't going to get a whole lot of extra performance using the same housing as the stock twins, at least it hasn't been shown yet. Maybe the new version of the BNR's will be the "next best thing", but right now there isn't any data showing much "total power" gain over the stock twins.

Most of the dynos around have shown M2, BNR Stages 2 & 3's all ranging from 370 to around 400. Same end numbers that can be achieved with stock twins if dyno numbers are all you are after. The spool up time will most likely be different though (as proven by Artguys dyno using the M2's).

Non-seq will not spool up faster then sequential.

And for like 480rwhp you need quite a big single to do it safely.

Good luck !

With a properly converted non-sequential system (no gates, exhaust manifold ported, no cats) you can hit full boost (15+ psi) by about 3,200 rpm. I don't know of any sequential car that makes that much boost until the second turbo comes online, so yes, a non-sequential car can reach full boost more quickly than a sequential car. That's why they're stronger in the midrange than a sequential car with equivalent mods.
