Question Grinding Noise from engine area

I got a dilema here... I put this on the tech support page but im not getting any responses.. so the other night driving home in my 93 R1, just out of the blue my coolant light, oil light, charge light, and my abs light started to flash irraticly with a heavy grinding sound from the engine... so i naturally freaked out and pulled the hell over.. all my fluids are full, my belts appear fine also. It seems now the car is lacking a little power from the battery..(slow starting) and the grinding sound continues everytime i turn the car on. I know this isnt a good sound but i would just like to put my finger on the problem soon any info you can give me would be awesome.

so far the only things i can think of or what i got from a search are:
Water Pump Bearing
Alternator bearing
exhaust gas leakage
starter or malfuctioning fuel system

I've never heard of anything liek that befor but I'll go out on a limb and say that your alternator is F*@ked. None of the other things you listed would cause all the dash lights (maybe one but not all) to freak out.

i would have to say it's the alternator, maybe the bearing went out...

this past sunday, the alternator in my daily driver went bad... lights blinking on and off (like yours), headlights faded out, then total loss of power.... replaced the alternator and everything's good as new...well, the car is still a POS but it works now
