Greddy SMIC w/ stock duct question...
I recently purchased a greddy SMIC and decided to use the stock duct and duct cover to retain the stock look of the engine.
Here is my problem. I did not have the peice of sheet metal Greddy supplies to cover the hole in the stock duct to improve airflow to the IC. When I put the stock duct cover on, it does not mate w/ the IC duct any longer OR the airbox intake.
I also have the stock airbox. Assuming I put the sheet metal over the IC duct hole and mate the duct to the IC, what is the effect on the airbox intake?
The stock flow of air is in through the nose, then into the IC duct where some of the air gets diverted to the airbox for the air intake.
Here is my question: Since 1) the stock duct cover does not meet w/ the airbox any longer and 2) the hole in the IC duct is blocked off, how does the airbox get cold air?
Am I sabotaging my own engine here?

Hey Steve,
I know you want to retain the stock look here and to do so you will need to do some custom work. Personally when I first got this intercoller I bought the RB duct. You could also do the stock airbox mod to pull air from the bottom. Then hack the stock duct that passes air from the intercooler duct to the intake so that it fits.
This is a great intercooler but the duct is the worst available.

charles if i wanted you to respond I could have just IMed you
I already have the stock airbox mod done.
I think I may just take out the IC and bend the mounting bracket a bit so it sits more upright. That should allow the stock duct cover to fit over the airbox, then i'm in business.
Sounds to me like you're volunteering. See you Saturday about 9am
