GReddy Profec E-01 vs. HKS EVC-JDM
Which one is better? Help me choose. Also, is the background illumination on the Profec E-01 switchable from a green to black background, so the numbers are green? That could get annoying at night with that bright-*** green background.

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
Don't know quite how to answer that one. I went straight to the Profec E-01 and have not tried any other controllers. Everyone on here seems to be fans of the Profec B and the Profec B Spec II. The latter 2, as I understand, have pre-set boost patterns suited to the FDs.
I have liked my E-01 so far and the tuning of the boost has not been too daunting a task. There are also auto settings that the controller will set for you. The E-01 is a good bit more expensive: approx. $200.00 for the Profec Bs vs. $450.00+ for the E-01. I am not familiar with the HKS model so I cannot comment on that one.

IMO, both are way overkill for what you need it to do on an FD. I really could care less for all the useless features the high-end boost controllers come with. I have essentially two controls on my Profec B -- wastegate response and boost level (well, three, as there are two different boost level settings). Both are ***** with no stinking number display required. Just my 2 cents...

I like bling factor! (classy bling) Not to much though. There's a fine line between a classy car and one that's looks thrown together and cheap. I think a stock appearance (or the look of) is very important especially on the interior, where you see some pretty crazy **** people do, like with gauges and stuff. I don't think mounting a boost controller, or power fc commander, or turbo timer, or anything looks good mounted on top of the dash with double-sided sticky tape. I'm relocating my A/C and heater controls to the glove box so I have all kinds of room to mount stuff like that in the dash, where it belongs. I'm even going to take apart my fc commander and mount it in the dash w/ the buttons for it, along with changing out the greenish LED's with blue ones!
