greddy intake question

hey guys, another intake question. I just got this 93 FD and it has all the piping, hoses, hose clamps, etc for the greddy Airinx system but no actual filters. I've been looking around and I was hoping I could just buy them. Does anyone no where I can buy the filter, not the entire kit? Also, if I can't, does anyone see a problem with just putting some K&N cylindrical filters on instead? I get their filters for free so that is my backup plan.

also, the car is a touring ed. so it has a sunroof. i can look at the sunroof sheetmetal from inside the car, is there some kind of plastic panel that installs over it or what?

I think you'd be way ahead if you just used K&N filters. Greddy's dry foam filters don't filter that well, and you end up sucking a lot of crap into the motor.

You MIGHT be able to get a replacement filter, but finding parts for aftermarket accessories can be tricky. Again, you'd be way ahead with the K&N's.

Yes, there should be a trim panel on the inside of the sunroof panel. Shouldn't be hard to find a good used one. PM FritzFlynn - he has TONS of stock parts.

Since companies like GReddy and HKS make intake kits for various cars, you can usually order the filters from any local hotrod/rice shop. The filters themselves are usually the same for all cars they make a kit for, it's just the piping that usually differs.

You could probably fit the K&N on there somehow. Foam filters are fine as long as you oil them. Foam filters require oil to aid in trapping dirt and debris. If you don't oil the filters before installing them, then yes they aren't good at filtering small things. You can get the filter oil at just about any motorcycle shop as they use foam filters as well.

Those filters are extremely hard to find and or very expensive. I think they want like 60 bucks each for the originals. There are cheapy knock-offs out there but I have yet to find our size. They are usually the bigger style. I think k&n's would be the way to go.

thanks guys, I think I'll just get some K&Ns, they come in virtually every size from like 1.75 - 4 in diameter in .25 inch increments
