Great, got car started after flooded now its cutting out on me, now what? help please
Ok, I flooded my car over the weekend, got alot of good advice from some great RX-7 owners and got it fired back up. Here is the problem now, idle is fine, slow acceleration is smooth and normal BUT when I press the pedal to WOT it cuts out on me, bad, like hitting a brick wall. I was only able to get to the 2 rear plugs and luckily gotted it started with just replacing those 2 so the 2 front plugs(closest to the nose of the car) are the ones that were in there when the car was flooded, could that be my problem, just that they are so fouled at WOT I am not getting a good enough spark?? I have only driven the car like 5 miles since I got it unflooded, do I just need to drive it more to burn that excess gas off the front 2 plugs?? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a million and hopefully this will be the last question I need to ask you guys until after winter, lol but I wont hold my breathe,

You could not reach the front plugs? I was able to take out all 4 plugs and them back in like 20-30 times in 4 days with just a regular wrench. Perhaps its your coil or ignitor. How much are vaccum are you pulling at idle?
You might be running into fuel cut for some reason. Double check your fuel pressure. At least you got her restarted, good job

Well I dont have a fuel pressure gauge so I cant really check that. I couldnt reach them because I had a bunch of crap in the way, I mean I could touch them just couldnt get my ratchet in there. I was told within about 10-20 miles the fouled plugs should "clean" themselves off so I guess I need to go for a drive tomorrow and hope for the best? I originally thought it might be fuel cut too but I have already gone through that and had my Walbro rewired so I find it hard to believe that would happen again, besides when I hit fuel cut I get that loud "farting" noise out the exhaust, I am not getting that this time, just a little backfire and thats all. I will post tomorrow when I get home from work and hopefully the "bug" will work itself out, if thats even possible in an FD, lol.

I have the same problem after flooding mine. WOT throttle cuts out on me in the higher RPM range...5500 rpm, for instance. I'm replacing the spark plugs this weekend, and hopefully that will be the fix...

It doesn't sound like fouled plugs to me, although that's always a good place to start troubleshooting. The excess gas should burn off immediately after you fire it up.

Oh well, at least you're searching. The "Search Police" won't get on your case...

If it cuts off when you hit boost it sounds like you may be in limp mode. Try resetting your ECU by disconnecting the battery and holding the brake for 30 seconds. Then hook everything back up and give it a shot. Also, check for engine codes.

FWIW, the new spark plugs (NGK R BUR9EQPs all around, available @ NAPA for $7.77 each), worked like a charm. The job took me an hour (my first plug change ever!). The old plugs were all fouled...disgusting. Modified street port KDR motor goes through plugs in <9000 miles. Interesting tidbit there. Guess I gotta stop street racing every kid that wants his *** whooped LOL
