Got quoted $210 for the front windshield

now the glass people told me that the front windshield is made by (L O S) anyone knows the quality of the windshield from this company. I need feedback. They also said that they try to save my existing molding when taking the old widshield off if they cannot save my old moulding they will replace it with one of theirs and they quoted me $64 for their new moulding. Does NE1 knows how much is the new muolding from Mazda.

I got a similar qoute as mine needs replaced as well. I was qouted $191.00 for the actual windshield(bronze tint/blue band) and around $80.00 extra if it needs a new molding which they won't know until they take the old one out. That includes install btw, but I think most places do. Overall I didn't think it was too bad of a price. I asked a relative who work's at a body shop to qoute me on a windshield and he said starting at $300.00, depending on tint band, and not including install.

As far as quality I would be more concerned with the quality of the install rather than the quality of the windshield.

That is not a bad price. Replacement windshields vary a little in quality. OEM would probably be $600 (minimum)

Here in Florida, the law requires auto insurance companies to replace a damaged windshield at no charge without invoking the deductible. Check with your insurance company if you haven't done so already. Did this on my car last year - got a crack in the lower left from a rock.

Ok now what is the deal with the tint colors on the top portion of the windshield. Does NE1 knows what is the tint color on the original front windshield on the 93 Touring model. On mine the original owner got his front windshield replace and the tint is blue on top. Does it matter or is it just the owner's preference just out of curiosity.

There are three different tinting schemes for FDs. You can check yours by holding a white piece of paper behind the windshield. The tinting schemes varied by body color.

I can't believe they would even say that they will try to re-use the molding. You NEED new molding, period. The aftermarket molding they use is universal and may not be as good as OEM, so I would tell them to get the OEM Mazda molding (or get it yourself).

Also, don't use a place that isn't willing to offer a lifetime warranty on the installation.

I had mine replaced last fall for around $170. That is in IA though where the cost of living is cheap too though. They used a aftermarket molding and judging by looks, I would say that it is better than the factory molding. Who knows if it will hod up as well, but after 10 years my factory molding wasn't stellar either.

I had mine done at Harmon Glass. I think they are a national company.

And for the schemes, they have
bronze w/bronze stripe
blue w/blue stripe
and clear w/blue stripe

I'm not 100% sure about those, but that is the jist of it anyway.

When you call the glass place, they'll give you the three combo options (if not, go somewhere else!). I can't remember what the options are but I think red FDs came with gray/gray. Like I said above, just take a white piece of paper to your windshield, you'll see what the two colors are.

sh*t $300 is nothing. I had to pay $1600 for my 2000 VW Jetta because the insurance I had a the time didn't cover it.

If you run with a radar detector, top mounted, be careful on the tinting. You don't want to get a bronzish tint, because that includes metal particles.
