Got the new compressor on!

Well I got my new compressor on and i was reassembling my car and i broke a damn stud on the throttle body where the plastic intake elbow goes on ! I swear this crap always seems to happen. O well i guess thats part of owning a 11 year old car. Back to working on the beast ....

those studs break off all the time...it happened to me then I started noticing many threads with the same thing. I actually just replaced mine with a bolt. When you take the elbow off there will probably be a few mms of the stud still sticking out. You should just be able to grab it with a vice grip and twist it out.

Quit over tightening the fasteners! The studs that hold the elbow on are not structural parts nor under much stress, just tighten them snugly and leave it at that. The o-ring will provide the seal; the nuts only need be tight enough not to loosen. Same goes for the throttle body to UIM, the little nuts on the turbo inlets, hose clamps etc.

wasnt really overtightning , .... but there was a black plastic piece in the way , causing the elbow to not line up correctly . failing to notice this to late and trying to get it to line up correctly caused the broken stud. The stud was only like 2 bucks and i had money left on my auto zone card!
