So here is a little update.

Statefarm wanted to repair my car using recycled OEM parts. I objected to the use of such parts but I decided to see the condition of said parts before I expressed my opinions. After 2 weeks of waiting, Statefarm could not locate they recycled parts so I now have to wait for another adjuster come and write a supplement check so I could get New 99 spec parts. After speaking to the body shop we are looking at the car coming out of the shop around the first week of august. Barring all things go smoothly I can enjoy the car for some of the summer!!

"Maybe don't ride their *** so close, you should have plenty of time to back up if you leave yourself enough room.

At stop lights and whatnot, I leave enough room between me and who's in front of me that a small car could fit inbetween us."

Exactly what I was talking about. Monday morning quarterbacks. Go figure.

I got 3 estimates from different local body shops, all the body shops gave me quotes using new parts (bumper skin, rebar, turn signals, and support). However, statefarm made their quote using recycled parts, which I am very disappointed about! Is there any possible way to make statefarm pay for new parts?
some states have laws requiring insurance people to replace parts with new OEM parts, or at least give you enough money to do so. you don't have to settle with them. just keep fighting it until you get what is rightfully yours (don't try to screw them over like they're doing to you).

Sucks man, sorry to see that. It could be much worse though. As far as your coolant problem, the only thing I can think of that could even be remotely tied to the accident is your overflow tank. I doubt it got touched, but it wouldn't hurt to check it, and the line that runs to your AST. I suppose it's possible the AST got damaged, but I doubt it. Anyway, best of luck getting everything sorted out with insurance!

Well after 3 weeks of arguing with statefarm, I managed to get them to pay for new bumpers, rebar and turn lamps. On the down side, the body shop was instructed to order the parts from a Mazda dealer which means no 99 spec front for me.

I do respect some of the opinions of forum members and I was going to see how you guys would think it looked if I color matched my 99 spec lip to the VR paint?

that probably cost them out the *** if it makes you feel any better

When my friend hit my car, it just needed a new fender and door shell.......OEM parts used the repairs were well within the price range of going single....I was so tempted to just have a single turbo beat up 7.

Yeah i wrecked my FD back in December and it took the shop repairing it 3 months to track down a new hood and bumper. Both were OEM and some of the last stocked items out there. The bumper was even ordered in from California cause none of the Mazda dealers around here had any idea where to get the bumper.

Yeah, I was the friend who hit his car; before you guys flame, i'm a dumbass I know, brakes failed but w/e. And Tim I don't think I would have forked over 3k for you to do single turbo rather then fix your car

Not tryin to jump on you, but you just got taken for a ride. It is YOUR *RIGHT* to request the insurance check be made out to YOU, in YOUR name...NOT to the shop. This allows you to 1) Repair it later, 2) Not repair it at all, 3) Repair selected parts, 4) Repair it using the parts you want, etc etc. Basically it leaves the door open. Insurance companies try and beat you at this point by *automatically* making out the check to the shop to guarantee they're actually paying money for something that WILL be fixed (as often times ppl simply pocket the money). So if I were you, and you still have time, have the body shop cancel the order, and request the check in your name (or take the $$ from the body shop). You're under NO obligation to get the parts from Mazda - let alone to get the parts at all!

Thanks for the advice to everyone who replied to this thread. I am a little upset that I was not able to have the 99 spec front but at least that car is back and looking better than ever. Here is a shot that was taken after all the work was finished.

Glad everything worked out. The car looks great but I'd rather have the front lip black. The picture in your sig looks awesome. I like the way the front turn signals look. Do you know how much they were from the dealer?
