Over the past weekend a friend and I were driving in a near by neighborhood.. We pass a house and an older gentlemen is pulling a 93' MB fd out.. We slow down a little as he gets out and puts a for sale sign in the window.. So of coarse we stop.. The car is in mint condition.. 33k original miles.. All stock, two rebuilds.. Perfect exterior.. Interior is perfect.. Only thing i didnt care for was the color Motegi blue..=( So ive been in the hunt for an fd for awhile and this one met all my requirements.. So i ask for the price anticipating atleast $14-15k.. Hes asking $5,500!!! Im like this is to good to be true.. I start inspecting it top to bottom.. Take two test drives.. Looking for the usuals...Thing is flawless.. The guy must have really not needed the money.. and from the looks of his house Ide say he didnt.. So i get all his info and head home to talk to my dad.. Im in the air force and have the money just the quickess means to cash was through him because i wanted the car today.. So i start to get everything sorted out.. Call the guy and let him know that ill be there later w/ cash etc.. And can you guess what his answer was?? "Well i knew you were interested but your buddy already came and bought the car.." WTF!!!!! So after days of locking myself in my room I finally confront my friend things are fine now.. He allows me to drive it whenever I want until I finally get my fd.. 1 day i guess Ill find what im looking for.. Hate MB anyways..

 

What kind of friend is that?

 

that is pretty messed up... he shouldnt have bought that out from under you, should have atleast talked to you first. 5500 is really damn cheap too...

 

The silent n' dangerous one, heh. Well, at least both of you will have FD's to learn off of each other. Great to know a buddy that has one to share tips and help.

The car is easily worth 14k+ so its a once in a lifetime deal... but no reason to stay mad i guess.. Im also goin to japan over the summer for atleast a year so probably worked out for the best atleast he'll be bale 2 enjoy the car as to where i wouldnt be able to.. Maybe ill be able to find something in japan..

 

Lets just say he needs the car a lot more than i do when it comes to finding a spouse..

 

If you wanna get back at him, buy a 94 or 95 and make fun of his cheap plastic interior panels.

You should **** with your friend and pull his MAP sensor line when hes not lookin, then tell him his motor is blown and that you should sell it to you...

it really pisses me off when i start talking about a car and suddenly my friends talk about buying the same ****, im like "have some ******* originality" first i wanted a miata, then this dude i know was like "oh i bought a miata" for the last 2 months i've been looking at an eclipse GSX, today my other friend comes up to me talking likes HE'S gonna buy one, ******* A

 

Thats pretty shady even though you really don't like that color its not an excuse for your friend to swoop on it....was he also looking for an FD? if not.....that sucks but then again thats life...

At least now when his car breaks, he can gain the experience for you when you have the same problems with your car!

Again i tihnk the original owner was the type of guy who just spent money and didnt think twice about it.. you know what i mean? but yea he was kinda in the market for a new car but i didnt know he was interested in an fd.. but who cant be look at it..

Especially if the guy was loaded, and had taken it to a mazda dealer, they probably just took off the Map sensor and sold him a new motor....
