Is it GOOD to upgrade just the Front sway bar?
I have a 93 touring and I just recieved the Pettit Front sway bar. after reading the instructions it said not to drive the car until I get the rear sway bar, "they are tuned as a set..."
Of course, I'm gonna drive the car...My question is have any of you(the forum) upgraded just the Front sway bar? Results? Do I need to buy the rear bar? If not will me car be very unbalanced?
TIA,
John

you will likely get a bit more understeer if you are increasing the size of the front sway brace only. This should be pretty safe for now. The only thing is you might get a bit more drop-throttle oversteer.

You should be fine. Especially considering you have the stiff 93 rear bar (the 94+ rear bar is much less stiff). I have taken my car to two tracks with the rear bar disconnected and it doesn't do anything surprising. You get great traction in the rear, but it understeers.

Thanks for the replys.
I originally got the bar because with my tochikos(sp?) and Eibachs I get more body roll than I want when I toss my car around turns.
So will more understeer be better?
I guess I'll find out soon enough, when I install it.
Can anyone recommend a good rear sway bar?

That is an addco front bar, same dia as hollow stock but solid, mabe 40% stiffer. Pettit sells it solo as a modest upgrade. I'm sure the 'use matching rear' note is from addco, who makes an over-stiff 22mm solid rear bar for FD.
It's the same stiffness as mazdaspeed front bar, so the the adjustable mazdaspeed rear would be best match with it. But if obsessed with flat cornering on street (not to be confused with max lateral grip) then u will likely still be unhappy, with bars this size.
Sway bar info table at cirian link ('links' thread near top).
Table update ... eibach no longer carries fd bars, and RB now uses solid 32mm front, like sus techniques.

Good info. Sounds like you got a VERY stiff front bar, so it will move your car's balance toward understeer. That might be okay with you, or you might not like. The best way to find out is just to put it in a drive it. It won't be "unsafe" or anything like that.

It'll be just fine. Look at most mods list and you will rarely if ever see a Rear Sway bar mod with those who have changed the Front Sway Bar. That thing you read is just from the manufacturer - eitehr a cover their *** or a plug for you to buy more from them.
Get the Sway bar brace by the way, it'll help.
Unless you are an avid track racer I doubt you would notice any understeer. That Sway bar is heavy though. I have it on mine with Eibach springs, Tokico 5 ways, and the brace.

But I've grown up since then. Mostly.
