Good sounding BOV - recommendations

Preferences? Of course I still want one that I can count on to work. The stock BOV seems more buzzy than pssss-ty. Also, I would prefer one that is not obnoxiously loud (that's what exhaust is for)

Damn search not working

Yeah, I'm curious about this too. I don't want something that constantly makes earsplitting coke-can-opening sounds when I'm driving normally, but when I'm shifting at redline I'd like to be able to hear it. Don't know if anything like that even exists....

Blitz and HKS SS both sound really nice, and are both quality BOVs that are good at even 20+ PSI. the HKS is almost a love it/hate it sound. i have heard it in person (alwan16's car) and it is a nice and crisp chirp. i love it! . the Blitz BOV is more of a "WHOOOOOSH" sound. a good example of this is the BOV on all the Stage 4 turboed cars in Gran Turismo 2. the Blitz BOV sounds exactly (almost) like that. also, the Blitz is supposedly the loudest BOV on the market. i have heard it go off before, and its not unbearable, but is significantly louder than the HKS.

There was a really good thread awhile back about aftermarket BOV's...too bad search is disabled

Why is it that so many people buy a BOV for the way it sounds? **** the sound man, a BOV serves a purpose...a very important purpose...which is NOT to make a neato sound. The BOV expells excess pressure from the intake tract. Wouldn't you think that a BOV that was made to sound cool would flow less? Think about it...to make those cool sounds that discharged air has to pass over something, some sort of restriction...which you would also think would hinder performance. Buy a BOV that functions well man...get the Tial 50mm.

Is it true that the Blitz BOV gets stuck sometimes? Personally I am more concerned with performance than trying to intimidate others ( I am referring to those stock eclipses with loud *** BOV) However the blow off is one of the sweetest sounds and if you want it loud for your personal enjoyment more power to you.
Funny story ----> I was driving around and seen a Honda with a loud loud loud turbo. I hesitated to try to race him in my stock FD, but when the rotary pride (RX7 rules the world) took over my brain and I tried him he didn't want any. He later explained that the huge turbo was bolted to his exhaust but not connected to his motor. Since there are strict rules about bashing in this forum I will just say : HOW CREATIVE!

all BOVs do their job, and that job is to release boost pressure. the only time you need to worry is when you hear compressor surge. other than that, all BOVs do the same thing...but some do it with style.

now ricers spend A LOT of money for nothing...

as for the sound of a BOV i think it's just like anything else, people want to be unique and some might like a chirp and some might like the wwwooossshh i think it's personal opnion. i don't see how much performance one BOV has over the other... unless you have boost spike a slower or less flowing BOV sometimes is better. their just another thing to set your car apart from others and to make it more enjoyful for you. After all isn't that what the Rex is all about? Joy

Eh, your premise is correct Joe...but I don't think that's the situation out there in the real world

Point is this...I've heard ATLEAST one story about a BOV going bad etc...for practiacally everyone out there...Apexi, Blitz, HK$....except Tial.

****, the thing is only $190 at http://www.xtecheng.com/

Trust me...you just have to see one of these things in person...highest quality unit out there. Period.

and do you realize why this is?? look how many people out there have Apexi, Blitz, HKS, and GReddy blow off valves, and look how many poeple have the Tial.

problems by different products should be based on percentages...not how many different stories you have heard, IMO. although you are correct, i have not heard of a Tial BOV going bad or leaking or anything like that. but i also have not come into contact with that many people uning the Tial BOV. once again....its all about percentages.

HKS- It is a pull type BOV wich is less prone to being forced open under high boost.

i have a Greddy Type S BOV (with the pipe adaptor for the retunr hose from the Y-pipe) and I've already adjusted the hardness spring a thousand times.
It doesn't make nay noticable sound unless you drive the car hard (6000rpm+) and even then you need to listen carrefully.

First I though my 1st turbo didnt't make enough pressure any more, but I also had the OEM bov disconnected and that one woooshes like hell. (negative point about the OEM BOV is the it doesn't close under vacuum below +- 3000rpm)

My car is bone stock for now so maybe I should take the soft spring out of the Greddy untill I get an intake and exhaust?? Gereddy has a stiff AND soft spring in it. I also took the ahrd one out onces but then it doesn't close at all when driving.

I have the TXS Type-H RFL on my WRX, and I love it. Under low boost it lets out a nice WHOOOSH and when its really cold and under high boost it almost squeeks like the SSQV

Im planning on getting the TurboXS RFL for my 7. I've heard it on a ton of different cars and loved it.
