good and bad news- some opinions please

whats up everyone- I havent posted in a while, i finally got the title and tags for my reconstructed 94 FD. I was up at KDR last week, getting a few things done, and dave noticed some minor frame damage on the front end. he said it can be easily fixed and should be fine, considering the area of damage and how minor it is.
The good news is that my compression test was 8's across the board! (obviously not the original engine I paid 10,5 for the car with 100k on the odometer) He said it's one of the best he's seen in a while.
do you guys think it's worth going for the the long haul with this car, seeing as it's worth a lot more than i paid for it? do you think i should go after the seller and see what the laws in that state are about frame damage? I know in Pa it's an automatic salvage. Anybody go through anything like this? just some thoughts and opinions would be nice. thanks a lot.

Good luck with the suit if you pursue it. I know in Utah you have to be able to prove that the previous owner knew about the damage and withheld that info from you when you bought the car. If they didn't know you may have to go back a few owners. Could be a bigger pita than it is worth. Unfortunately if you decide to sell it, you have to disclose it, since you now know, or you could be getting sued yourself.
I bought, or rescued a 93 fd from an idiot that shouldn't have owned it. I got a good deal knowing that it had some problems, in the end I got a fair deal. It doesn't really matter, as long as you are happy and when you look at it there are no regrets.

yeah i havent quite decided what to do yet. Dave told me the damage is minor enough that it can be fixed and basically be good as new. It just seems like the integrity of the frame cant be like it was. I guess i could be a dick and try to sell it to someone, but that would probably just get me in worse trouble. Anybody else care to comment, i'd appreciate some knowledge-based opinions. thanks

If all you are dealing with is a minor frame issue and you have taken it to a mechanic who you trust and has told you that it can be easily fixed then I would stop your bitchin about it, fix it, and enjoy your car. You have a great car that you got for less then market value and you are complaining about it. Stupid people like you never cease to amaze me.

Almost every state runs on a buyer-be-ware platform that puts the burden of proof on you to show that the seller knew of the problem when he sold you the car.

Lets say hypothetically that you have this proof, then you are only titled to receive as compensation what it cost you to have your friendly trustworthy mechanic fix it for you. That compensation does not include what you would have to pay a lawyer for his time and effort to file it and argue it successfully for you. That is even assuming that you can find a lawyer to take the case for you.

Now if you do decide to sell the car without fixing it then you have to disclose that this MINOR frame issue is wrong because you know about it. Other wise you will end up getting sued and someone who will look on this forum, pull this post, and take it to court against you.

Ten bucks says that you bought the car sold as is with no warrenty and didn't have it looked at before you bought it

My advice, stop thinking that you are going to get a free car out of this by dragging the seller into a courtroom. You will only end up looking like a fool with a mountian of lawyer bills two years from now. get the frame welded up and move on.

Yo PorscheGuy, chill out. You don't have to call HIM stupid or a fool, it really, really, really doesn't help. It's just going to **** him off and he won't care to read the rest of your post, which happens to be the best way to handle this situation. My vote would be to get the 94 straightened out and enjoy, as FormerPorscheGuy advised. Frame-damage-schmame-damage

P.S.- Or just buy my car...at least it has a straight frame!
