The Robinette archive is required reading. Plus:

1) Which owner are you? How long have you owned it? What kind of driving do you do? Why are you selling? Who did you buy it from? (describe) Who did the maintenance, and do you have the records? Did you drive it in the rain? Snow?
2) Was the engine ever replaced/rebuilt? By whom? What modifications have been done to it? Any that were installed but later removed? Have you done a compression test?
3) Is the paint original? Have there ever been any dents? Accidents? Break-ins?
4) When was the last time the XX was done? (FPD, Fuel Filter, Oil, Coolant Hoses, Vacuum Hoses, Solenoids, Turbochargers, Tranny oil, motor mounts, tires, brake pads, brake rotors, spark plugs/wires, catalytic converter, pre-cat, alternator, starter, injector cleaning or replacement...) When was it tuned, by whom? Where are the dyno charts and a/f plots? Have any mods been made since then?

Plus, do all the basic tests - look for oil leaks, champagne bubble test, white/black/blue smoke on a cold startup, 3rd gear boost test, have a compression test done, etc. If you're not sure if the car's been modified or how much, take a picture of the engine bay from all angles - both in front, on top, down the sides, from underneath if possible. Post it here, I'm sure we can help point out the notable things.

[edit] nevermind the stuff about if the car is modified - the one you linked to is. Get details about every drivetrain reinforcement, tuning, dyno time, reliability mod you can. If this is your first FD then you're buying quite a lot of car.

Dave

Yeah, ask him to meet you at the dragstrip so you can do 6 back to back runs...that way you know it is still reliable and built right.

That car is freaking serious...don't drive it much if you buy it. cars like that break stuff all the time, or have minor problems that can turn big real fast.

Do you have an extra $6K for when the motor goes??

I can't imagine how irritating those fuel pumps would be to drive around town with. Mounted in the cabin to a flat sheet of aluminum has got to be the farthest thing from quiet.

I currently have an FD for 2 yrs, Montego blue R1 with non-seq , PFC, FMIC, MP,DP, FPR, 500hp FP, .
But I've thought about it and I decided that to own one of these cars and not use it for sporting purposes is pretty stupid. If I didint drive it daily I'd never drive it so I want to get a good drag weapon and get on the track and do it properly - so I saw this FD on trademe and thought It sounded like a good car to start with and then maybe over the next year move it up to the next stage.
I have seen this car at our local champs and it ran 10's all day ( about 8 runs) so I know it has the mumbo!!

I would go for a closer to stock FD for your first one but that's just my .02. Whatever happens good luck on the test drive. And post pictures so the experts on here can point out anything.
