Going Rate for Downpipe Removal?

Hey, pretty simple question. Just wondering what the average rate for replacing a downpipe is? Thanks.

Do it yourself, its a tight space and you basically have to jack the motor up off the mounts to get it out, but its not at all anywhere as difficult as pulling say the ENTIRE turbo system. You seriously really are best off doing this yourself as a shop with charge you a highly inflated price.

Jack the vehicle up.
unplug your O2 sensor from the top, remove the Turbo Control actuator off the bottom. At this point you will have access to all the down pipe to manifold nuts. Before you go cranking them off, soak the nuts in PB Blaster to loosen them up. If you don't you could be looking at a snapped stud. They're made of Inconel and expensive, but for reference, I've never had one break on me. Once you let the nuts soak for a few hours crank them off. loosen the engine mounts and jack the engine up and pull the down pipe out (be careful not to snag your O2 wire on anything) remove O2 sensor or just buy a new one (might as well since its out and they're cheap). Then reverse everything.

Ok. I was more looking for just a ballpark figure, since a local guy was wondering if I would replace it for him and I wasnt too sure what to charge.

Ive already replaced my downpipe, and pulled my turbos to port the wastegate. But since this a rhd car I new it would be a bit tougher then my lhd.

The very first mod I did to my FD lo these many years ago, was to replace the stock cat with a downpipe.

It definitely did not require jacking the engine up.

^ First time I pulled my turbos out when i removed the DP it wasn't necessary. Next time didn't go the same way with the studs acting funky. Its easy enough to do and gives you that extra little bit of clearance.

it is a rather large pain to do a downpipe on a RHD car. ive put it on and off quite a few times now and it is an extremely tight space since the steering is right there. add more time to allow for that.

Personally I think you're nuts to do it for only $100. Either that or you don't value your time

Rotary shops used to charge $200. That was 8 years ago.

I want to say it's about a four hour job by the book...... most rotary shops will charge around $100 an hour labor (this varies of course), so do the math

Lol, well I offered him $100, and I havent heard back, so it seems he might be shopping around or considering doing it himself.

On another note, $100 DJobs who wants one, haha.
