Going to Japan
Hey everybody...I've been on the forums for nearly a year now..however I dont post very often because Im not nearly as knowledgable as the already present Gurus.
That aside, Im in the Navy, and in January I'll be going to Okinawa, Japan for about 6 months, and in my time over there Im hoping to acquire and send back a few JDM pieces (or anything else I can acquire) for my FD, Im posting this with high hopes of 2 things ; 1) Some people might have already been over there and have suggestions of places to go. and 2) I might be able to help out others on the forums by getting them these pieces. -- I wouldn't ask any more money than whatever I would have to pay to get it for you, Im not out for myself here...I'd most likely even be willing to pay shipping because I've been told I get a very large discount on it.
No flames please, Im really just trying to help...

Congrats on going to Japan, you are very lucky.
It might be best to set up an Yahoo Japan account, purchase a d ship used goods, since most sellers on YJ will not ship over seas.
Take lots of pictures.
Look at the Japanese links section in the stickies, and post in the far East section of the sub forums

was over there in April and its not as easy as one might think to find parts stores. went around a decent amount and found a few things at autobacks, i think thats the right spelling, basically a used auto parts store chain. There are quite a few around but the main one actually had a decent FD section. Aside from that like mentioned above I set up a yahoo japan account and ended up buying 90% of the stuff i got online and shipped locally to my inlaws house. What I did really like was shipping within japan is very reasonable and its all pretty much overnigh delivery. Should have seen the look on the customs guy who cracked open 2 large suitcases full of parts when I got back to the U.S.

i was stationed there in the Marines for 3 years, just got back this year.
there's plenty of places to get parts and at dirt cheap prices. i highly recommend joining zeroyon.com its a car forum consisting mainly of military guys stationed there now.
Aswome place btw. i will be moving back there with my wife this January ( im no longer in the military though! )
