going to the 1/4 track....race gas yes/no?

would it be a good idea to throw a gallon or 2 of race gas in the car??? just as a source of added protection. if yes, what octane? 100? 110? thanks.

If you can get unleaded race gas, then it won't hurt.

Unless you're putting in more than half a tank of the fancy stuff I have to wonder if it will make a practical difference.

Another option is pure toluene as an octane booster.

Race gas lets you run more timing or lets you run more boost.

Higher octane=less detonation.

Definitely run race fuel. Get 110 if they have it.

I have the M2 ECU which is tuned to 91. I always run 94 and when racing mix some 100 unleaded just to feel safer.

with no changes to your ecu tune, then add 3 to 5 gallons to a 1/4 tank of regular 93 oct and you'll be a bit safer from detonation if it was just 93 octane. By the time I drive to the closest 1/4 track, I'm down to almost 1/4 tank and then I add enough to get me to 1/2 a tank with the race fuel.

Your sig says you're selling the car, but you're taking it racing? Havin' fun while you can ?

I think mixing in a couple of gallons of race gas is an 'ok' idea, but it will slow you down a bit because raising your effective octane and not tuning for it.

What mods/boost level? Back when I was on stock twins w/bolt ons in TX, I lived close to a drag strip so made many many passes on pump gas with no problems.

yeah, im not in a hurry to sell it. if someone came and gave me what im looking for it, id probably sell. otherwise im in no strain to get rid of it. (for now) i was spiking around 15 psi and dropping to 13.xx psi. mods are 99 twins, full 3" exhaust, no cats. hks intakes, split second additional injector controller (got 2 extra 750cc injectors) greddy 2row fmic, koyo rad.

I think your question has been answered for you. Add some race fuel to be safer than not adding it. Get whatever octane the track has that is unleaded...although I doubt a few gallons of leaded mixed with regular 93 octane would gunk up the O2 sensor. You won't be as fast as if you tuned for the higher octane but you're not running that all the time so don't worry about tuning it for the few runs you get in with the race gas at the track.
