Question GMonson's dash and gauges

When I pulled up Gordos old thread to my dismay I found that the pics are all gone. Did anyone happen to save any of the pictures on his finished dash project?

I saw that car in person when it was sold and didn't like the interior at all. For all the $$$time and $$$effort that went into it the outcome looked exactly like a 1:1 scale plastic model kit. It wasn't flattering to the car at all.

I think it's the battleship grey color that makes you think of that.

Certainly part of it but the result of all the work was not handsome at all IMO. It doesn't look fine or flattering even though the quality of the work was good. I tried to like it and couldn't.

I've seen that car in person, a guy on these forums bought it. The interior ***** are aluminum, I was told that they were a custom fabrication.

Damon, I agree about the painted dash finish. My favorite custom interior was a WRX with a black suede-covered dash, it looked pretty subtle and reduced glare also.

No problem.

Damon, I agree the interior looked so so, especially considering the project set him back about $12,000. However I think some parts of it are really nice. For example, the leather bound carpets and alcantara headliner look fantastic (save for the sun visors which look like stock sun visors with oven mits on them).

I saw the car as well when it was at Motor Sports Ranch in Cresson, TX. One reason the cost was so high is that he imported some of the worlds finest leather and had the entire interior covered in leather. Dash and all. Or was it suede?

I saw and sat in Gordons 7 numerous times through the year. He spared NO expense and did it his way without fear or reservation of what others would think or say. Its a shame he went through so many motors like I did dealing with KDR. He finally called it a day and sold it. Too bad he didn't keep it, as there are actual good tuners avavilable to us now. Back then, there wasn't anyone like a Demetrios or a Ray Wilson.

How the hell do you call that rice? The gauges were for a reason. Gordon road raced the car and used every gauge. Its not like they were some Jap gauges.

Im planning on doing something similar, but replacing the stock guages with the Autometer Nexus guages, so I am waiting for them to produce a speedo and tach.
