GMonson's dash and gauges
When I pulled up Gordos old thread to my dismay I found that the pics are all gone. Did anyone happen to save any of the pictures on his finished dash project?
Thanks, |

oooh that is fancy
|
yeah, that is nice. anyone know where he sourced those knobs?
|
I think rx7.com has somthing like them
|
that steerign wheel must feel nice. Anyone know what kind it is?
|
The knobs were off a Kenwood stereo I think.

I saw that car in person when it was sold and didn't like the interior at all. For all the $$$time and $$$effort that went into it the outcome looked exactly like a 1:1 scale plastic model kit. It wasn't flattering to the car at all. :thumbd:

I dont care for that gauge set up at all. Looks tacky and out of place.
|
I've seen that car in person, a guy on these forums bought it. The interior knobs are aluminum, I was told that they were a custom fabrication.
Damon, I agree about the painted dash finish. My favorite custom interior was a WRX with a black suede-covered dash, it looked pretty subtle and reduced glare also. -s- |
See the Gauge Replacement Page on my site:
http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/g...placement.html you can navigate to that via the front page of FD3S.net and go to: Upgrades --> Engine --> Engine Control and Electronics --> Gauge Replacement. Cheers, Steve http://www.FD3S.net |
Thanks for the picture Chris..

No problem.
Damon, I agree the interior looked so so, especially considering the project set him back about $12,000. However I think some parts of it are really nice. For example, the leather bound carpets and alcantara headliner look fantastic (save for the sun visors which look like stock sun visors with oven mits on them). |
I just liked the knobs he used and the placement of them and the extra gauges in the center stack.
|
What am I not seeing here that could run the cost to $12,000?
|
I saw the car as well when it was at Motor Sports Ranch in Cresson, TX. One reason the cost was so high is that he imported some of the worlds finest leather and had the entire interior covered in leather. Dash and all. Or was it suede?
|
I saw and sat in Gordons 7 numerous times through the year. He spared NO expense and did it his way without fear or reservation of what others would think or say. Its a shame he went through so many motors like I did dealing with KDR. He finally called it a day and sold it. Too bad he didn't keep it, as there are actual good tuners avavilable to us now. Back then, there wasn't anyone like a Demetrios or a Ray Wilson.

Im planning on doing something similar, but replacing the stock guages with the Autometer Nexus guages, so I am waiting for them to produce a speedo and tach.
|
I like it. Looks like one of those Nascar vehicles :)

I don't care how functional it was, it still looked like ass. |
