Non-Sequential
Lots of threads on this and tons of differnt opinions. From most old hat RX-7 owners that I have talked with, they told me to ride out my sequential until it costs too much to fix it, then do the Non-Sequential conversion.
You will simplify the vacume hoses significantly, you get to remove quite a few of them for this upgrade but you will also loose almost all of your bottom end power when you do this. There will be quite a bit at the top end to make up for it but if you aern't 1/4 racing, it can be a pain in the ***.
A good description of the conversion with pics-

if the stock sequential setup is functioning properly..i wouldnt touch it.....if it aint broke...dont fix it!...just make it faster.....i like the sequential setup because of the down low driveability and all around feel....in a simultaneous configuration you will see more lag and less low rpm liveliness......

turbo....glowing..... hmmm
i've seen a clogged precat glow... but never the turbos.
If everything is functioning properly that should NOT happen.
I dont have anything else to add over what's already been suggested (cooling lines/obsctruction of exhaust flow) but I just felt like typing... sorry.

hey, tonight i wanted to see if my turbos glow under a hard run...and they did!! my car ran fine. i jus didnt shut it down, and drove it nice and slow for about 15 mins, i checked under the hood every like 5 mins to check on them, and they slowly stopped glowing. then i set my turbo timer to like 3 mins with the fans on...
i think its normal because even like downpipes, headers they glow when under a really hard run, and turbos are really pushin air and spinning really fast so why wouldnt it get hot and glow? it has to...all metal glows when really hot.
geoff

alright......so the glowing is normal.
what about the boost? i feel very little boost in the higher RPMs....not the usual kick. then at around 6000 rpm it just starts struggling. the a/f readin is 10.0 (which is the lowest reading it gives).
in first.....i get boost, and secondary kicks.....but when i shift to second at its at ~4500 and i dont feel much pull like i normally do. from 3rd doin the 40-70 test it pulls fine untill 6000 where its starts struggling. once i get a boost guage ill update on my exact boost readings....right now this is just how it *feels*

i wouldnt drive it hard anymore till you get that gauge.....this could be a restricted intake or exhaust....or worse....you could be leaning out.....stop beatin on it till you get the GAUGE!......whens the last time you changed the fuel filter?...(if its leaning out, it might be this...)

don't race, don't need to
BoostCrzy is ABSOLUTELY right. When I bough the car, I purchased a boost gauge, and kept the rpms under 3500 ALWAYS, with grandpa type acceleration until it showed up and I got it installed. Only THEN did I open it up.
Dying boost above 6K is classic exhaust obstruction. ONCE I had the boost gauge, I noticed this on my car. 3rd gear, 10-8-10 to 5500, then fall off pretty drastic to like 7 or so, and no thrust. Pulled the precat, and it had broken and shifted backward a bit. Put on the DP, and boost is like you see above.
I'm going to put a temp gauge on my turbo housing exhaust this weekend to get some numbers on the thing. Any suggestions as to what normal numbers for the housing should be? I know idle exhaust temps are in the 450C range for our car, so this should be where the housing is at, right?
good to know I'm not the only one with the "healthy (?) glow"...
