depends how much cash you have to invest. if you can afford the $2600 for NEW turbos, I would think that would be better. New is probably better than rebuilding an old set of turbos. I would just rebuild mine for $850 rather than the stage 1 for $1250 considering I don't have the $$ for that.

If you want to go the cheep rout and have some time on your hands you could rebuild them yourself. Here is a link to the write up on it.

I'd go BNR all the way. The 99 spec twins are not worth the money. They might be new, but they're really not much better than the 93-95 twins. Get the BNR's save the rest of your cash.

did they fix the leaking problems on the bnrs yet?????
I would rather pay the extra cash for the 99's than have a cheaper set that drools like a two year old kid lookin at bag of cotton candy.
ten k of hard abuse on my m2 set and they are still cherry.

Hello Artguy. Long time no see. I have replaced my old turbo line with a more current design. All Parts except for the end housings are new. The cartridges come with carbon seal so I will not have the leaking problems that I had with the stage 3. I am changing the line of turbos b/c I ran out of replacement parts, so everything is now new.

I believe it comes back (yet again) to "what do you want to use your car for"....
I went with 99-specs because I hadn't bought an ecu yet, didn't have larger injectors yet, no fuel pump, & no intercooler. My engine rebuild was sucking all available funds (& credit). They work GREAT for 10-13 or 14 psi.... near stock range. I remember reading that the stage 3's are even better, but only @ 15+ psi (to get in the range they were designed for).
If you plan on running relatively low boost, get the 99's; otherwise I'd suggest the bnr's

A street ported motor has enlarged intake and exhaust ports for more power. BNR is a company that upgrades the stock twins with more efficent compressor wheels to make them able to produce more power as an alternative to a single turbo conversion.
The 99s are added security being new. Tim Benton put down 362 with the 99s at 14-15 psi sequentially so the do put down good power. I had the BNR stage 2s on my car and loved them - put down 380 at 15 psi with the normal bolt-ons. The M2s are also great for spooling and power but not much support for them. I had a problem with my old set up stage 2s and Bryan fixed them for free - and it was only because they didn't spool quick enough for me - the new BNRs rock and mine didn't leak at all - it's all in what you want to spend..
