Getting new filter elements

I have the HKS Super Mega Flow intake system and need to replace the filter elements. I did a search and saw mixed reviews about HKS's filter element. Should I stick with HKS's or get something else. What other filters will fit?

I've never heard any issues w/ HKS filter elemets... They're cheap to replace. You can clean them also.

Just oil the new filters and you'll be fine.

I could've swore I heard that the foam like particles can break and get sucked into the engine. Hmm... didn't know I could just replace it. Can I rinse them? Also, where can I get the oil

Yep. If the filters aren't oiled, they can dry up and break off if you never change them over a course of 2-3 years.

Like anything, they require maintenance. I wouldn't suggest rinsing them, I would just replace them. You shouldn't need to replace them more than once a year (if that). The oil, you can get it from probably any motorcycle shop as bikes use foam filters. It's extremely sticky stuff so use some latex gloves to work the oil into the new filters over some news papers.

Keep in mind, a foam filter that is not oiled is useless as it's the oil that traps the small particles. The rest of the stuff just stops boulders from coming into the intake.
