getting exhaust upgrade, opinions?
I am getting an intake and exhaust I need some opinions on these. the first is listed below and can be found at http://www.rx7.com/cgi-local/3catalog.cgi?cat=4&part=1
Bönez 3' Perf. Full Cat Replacement Kit (Stainless
Steel)
The other is a HKS cat back system. What do you guys recommend? my car is a 1994 FD. I want something that will allow it to breath more but will not sound or like a rice burner.
Any experiences with these products are appreciated.

go to atr.com they have a full 3' system that will be a little cheaper, gives better horsepower, sounds better. Really easy to install all instructions included, all stainless steel, mandrel bent. and if you want quietter get a bolt on silencer w/ system.

There are few people, like myself, using that setup. I like it a lot. I'm sure there are higher flowing cats that are available, but what I wanted was durability. I didn't want to be replacing the cat again in another 12 months.
It's a good kit. I didn't do the installation myself, but I hear it's a direct bolt on.

Be careful, downpipe+hi-flow cat+exhaust = three mods right there. You're going to have to restrict your boost to be safe with the stock ecu.
BTW, lucky you. The recent home purchase has set back my upgrade schedule for quite a while. On the other hand, my FD will be garaged from now on.

I replaced my stock cat with the bonez hi-flow. That lasted about 3 days before I ripped the bonez hi-flow out and just dropped in a SS MidPipe. I see you are in CA, so you're probably stuck with the hi-flow cat.
I'm guessing it made about a 20hp difference, hi-flow cat v/s midpipe.
I picked up 30hp going from the hi-flow cat to a midpipe (same boost). I also added the HKS twinpower the same day I swapped the hi-flow for midpipe though, the HKS should have been good for 10hp so I figure the hi-flow to midpipe accounted for the remaining 20hp.

i live in cali.. just get a resonated MP (more expensive than a non-res one) and the Gmedallion from Tanabe.. when smog comes along its easy enough to switch the cat section back in.
quieter still use a racing beat dual tip.
hks canister + mp is pretty freak'n loud

Rynberg....Rick is going to do the modifications for me, he did an entire test of my car including compression and turbos, and I am running high 8's for front and rear rotors, and perfect boost for the turbos. the problems with the car are control arm bushings , front sway bar bushings, cracked strut boot, rear turbo sprays oil into intercooler, the front turbo is leaking oil, transmission has a small leak, he said its a seal. According to him, there is nothing emergency to fix and its normal wear...and oh yea...he said the it amazes him the condition of the car and how well it drives. BTW...I just bought my house a year ago, I know what you mean.
I am starting with Intake and exhaust, I think I will do a full, but still debating. then I will do a 'crank pulley; or something he recommeded. Later on I will replace the ECU and the intercooler. have to do a little at a time. LOL
