Get nervous when people stare/wonder around your car...?

Just curious, do any of you get nervous when people stare/walk around at your car when you're unattending the car like at grocery store, your own driveway, parking lot, etc? And when I say "unattending" I'm talking about like walking back to your car from store/etc or every now and then peep out of your window to check on car. I guess I can see it as if they're just staring to enjoy what they like () or just "too close" for comfort.

I'm asking because every now and then it happens to me at parking lot or out-and-about somewhere. There were two instances "too close" for comfort: (1) one time at old residence, I had a car cover on a few times...some guy (about 18-20?) just pulled up & parked next to me in his Accord with "bling-bling" rims...he lifted up and peeked under my car cover and (2) just now (moved to new place)...some guy (15-17?) was skateboarding around my car and did a few loops around it. Unfortunately, I live in an apartment but it's probably the nicest one in my town and very clean with other nice cars (G35, Mustang Cobra, Vovlos, SS, etc). Clean usually means trouble-free neighborhood I suppose. We do have optional garages which I definitely want to look into later this year. I know my alarm works as I did the alarm test awhile back.

I know our FDs are nice but...does it really attract that much attention? Heh. Has this happened to you and how do you feel about it?

These cars just naturally draw attention. I think everyone with an FD gets a little nervous leaving it unattended. That just comes with ownership. I have intentionally left all the stock interior alone (stereo, gauges, etc.) just so the hoodlum kids don't attempt to break a window. I keep mine locked in my garage 98% of the time. That's really all you can do.

ive have that happen to me all the time. Its because its a 7. and you dont see them that often and everyone knows what they are b/c of the movies. I go to car meets 3-4 times a week and ive even had people leaning on my hood to brace themselves when my hood was popped. Some times it gets rediculas (SP) and out of hand. Some people have never seen them in person before so thats why they get so close for a look. I just saw a Mercedes Maclaron SLR for the first time about 5 min ago. I did the whole walk around and peeked at it. But I would never touch someone elses car unless they were there and offered to sit or go for a ride. Besides when people gauk at my cars I take it as a compliment.

Speaking of "breaking a window." My friend doesn't lock her truck (4dr frontier) ANYWHERE she goes or when we go have lunch together...she says she rather have someone rob the car by simply opening the car than breaking the window. Smart logic in a way...but I couldn't leave it unlocked for my FD.

The fd will get stares and curiosity wherever it goes until the end of time, this is just a fact. It is just something that the few of us with gourgeous cars (FD's) have to deal with. And it's not cockiness it's confidence lol. Sometimes the attention is scary other times it is flattering. just my $0.02

Yeah, kinda smart only if they steal random crap from inside the car (cd's, jewelry, etc...). If it were a better car than a Frontier, they might steal seats, radio, steering wheel, etc. and then you have to explain to the insurance that you left the car unlocked. this is esp. true if they decide to steal your car and then you're more fucked.

True, I too see it as a compliment but sometimes I can think on the other end...paraonia kicks in I guess. I feel very much more comfortable while I'm cruizing or in a stop light with them gawking. Occassional "what car is that" or "is that an RX-8? I guess there is a borderline somewhere.

True. Heh, with the common FD doorhandle-breaking or doors not opening...this would be the best time for it too happened with a potential thief. Make a negative into a positive.

He was probably pretending it was his while leaning on the car talking to the other people. I mean, at car meets or even my buddy tagging along for a ride doesn't even lean on it.

But yah, the ignorance of some...

I do a bit.

When i park my car at work, i get at least one car a day that pulls in the parking lot and slowly cruise by my car, then stop by it to look for about a minute, then drive off. I sometimes think they are trying to plan something but nothing bad has happened yet thank god.

I know the people who do do that tell their friends and their friends do the same and they tell their friends and it never ends. Thats why people will never stop passing by my job to look at my car. It makes me wonder cause its just a mazda, its a nice rare car but not like its a ferrari or lambo or something.

Heh. ;D

I feel completely safe parking at work since our area is enclosed and in the business side of town where there's no flow of traffic...just strictly business route and workers. I would've never expected viewers or peeps checking out my ride other than co-workers. Well, one day coming back from lunch with my lady friend...a co-worker had said three crotch-rocket bikers had just came by asking whose car that was in the parking lot. Co-worker said they sounded like they knew what my car is being rare and such and asked questions about it but co-worker didn't know most of answers other than turbo and rare.

The main thing here was...how the heck did these bikers see my car being parked in a business route area? Co-worker said these guys didn't live here and were just "passing by." As mentioned above, must've knew my car was located here via word of mouth of friends to check out.

Compliments appreciated though with the gawkkers. Just don't get to close and cuddle up. As someone said above, we're not cocky with the cars...but maybe too over-protective...are those the right words I g uess?

I especially do now, at some car meet/show last year someone leaned up on my driver's side fender and put a very noticable dent in it. It's right where the door and fender meet and it looks like someone actually sat down on the fender. Needless to say, I'm still not happy about it and I now stay around my car at the local car meet.

I remember last year while working at my summer job at some little grocery store. I was suddenly called to the front of the store for customer service. As I walk to the front I noticed that it was two teenage kids that had wanted to know who was the owner of the car. So I walk up just to hear them ask me right away " Hey, are you the owner of the Rx-7" I quickly responded with "Yea I'm the owner". So I got the "ohh" and "aww" look just to be asked "It must be nice being the manager here". I then gave them a blank stare and responded with Ohh "I'm not the manager, I'm just an employee and walked away "lol" You should have seen thier faces. My friend later told me that they actually walked around my car for a good fiffteen minutes just looking at it.

I have had more then one incident when I have caught people looking and admiring my car and I do get nervous every single time I've caught them. Unless its a girl then they can go ahead and look all they want. So I guess its just the rarity and beauty of the FD that attracts people to it.
