what do you mean too pricey and not worth it? it may be worth it to the people who are busy driving and dont want to look through 3+ extra guages to figure out if everything is ok.

Score Minor problem, they do not make this item in 12 v (dam!), is their a cheap way to invert the 12 v to 110 AC? I know of inverters that are 60$ an up but this little thing doesnt need that much power, so I was thinking of something small and hopefully cheaper. Im looking at other companies now that offer similiar products.
Give me a few months, I'm studying elec. engineering, and planning to make a digital gauge like what you're looking for. I need to finish my summer school class and then I should have the resources to build a digital readout like for displaying temperatures.
I'm planning on displaying water temp & oil temp, two seperate displays that are visable at the same time, and keeping the size as small as possible, like the same size characters as the odometer/tripmeter. It would probably be 3 characters, maybe 4 if displaying celcius.

You could learn the info you need to make one, it would probably take you about 10-20 hours of research to learn the stuff you're looking for. You'll need a temperature probe (thermistor or thermocouple), and a display. If you want to have a digital display you'll probably need an analog-to-digital converter, and get it calibrated. You might also need a voltage regulator in there somewhere too.

Gimme some good news on this please
. I was eagerly anticipating a new item to add to my long list of mods and this one looked great as it could get rid of at least some of the gauges. Please get this project back on it's feet and deliver a product that would warrant great demand

I'll give this a little bump.
I started working on the project again with some help of my younger brother that has alot of free time. Im still looking for a small inverter this thing only pulls 3 VA's which is not even one watt! So I mean anything small would be great. Also I have single displays that are really small 2 inches by 1 inch tall and 2 inches deep, the problem with these is they only go up to 99.9 C so not useful for anything except probably air intake temps. Just updating.

BTW, the circuit for cycling through a number of inputs and directing them to a single output is pretty simple. You could easily have up to 9 different inputs and using a timing circuit with a potentiometer you could have it cycle through them at a rate set by the user, or by disabling the timing circuit and using a momentary switch, you could manually switch through the available inputs. It looks like that's what your box does, which isn't a big deal.
Directing the outputs to an appropriate display is what's important. You could use a single temperature and a single pressure gauge, and in fact the SPA gauges have a combination which combines the two and adjusts to various ranges, if I'm not mistaken. Two sequential switching circuits tied into a single SPA gauge could give you readings on a number of sensors, and this is what I'm considering doing.
A pair of gauges in plave of the HVAC controls could also serve the display function, or a pair in the center speaker "periscope" pods. No big deal, and no worries about LED or liquid crystal display drivers.

Also if you want accurate readings you'll need to use different wire for each of the temps. But thats pretty much what this is.

hey guys im Fatman0203 younger brother i have an 88 FC neways with alot of tinkering i did i got things moving we got everything to work only thing where thinking of now is trying to put it in a box or a secure spot where everything looks like one piece ill be installing it in my car maybe the next 3 days just to take a couple of pics for everyone to see... after that ill try to design a frame for it but lets see how that goes....
Thanks

I can vouche for their product. Tweak tried it out on my moms car, and it actually read the water temp. I was amazed, how it can read up to 5 temps at once. Also display them in such a user friendly device. Its better than having a million gagues

as soon as i get off work today ill post some pics of it in my car and ill see if i can get a reading since my car has no coolant (blew coolant seal) ill try to get a reading of something else... ill take a pic in my FC and my dads FD...
