Gauge mounting option (searched)

Is flyrx7's speaker replacement pod the only method of mounting a 60mm gauge? I would like to get an A-pillar pod, and already have one that is not being used, but the only ones I can find hold 52mm gauges. Ideas? Thanks.

You can dremel out the 52mm pods to fit 60mm gauges without a problem.

You can also buy the Border "mickey mouse" gauge pod. It accepts both 60mm and 52mm.

IMO a-pillar obstructs your view too much.

Well, that depends on the gauge and the pod. I have the Autometer A-Pillar dual gauge pod. They are 52mm but I have a Greddy 60mm installed into one of them. Old picture, but you'll get the idea:

The problem is not the diameter, but the depth of the gauge. Some fit, some don't.

Why install aftermarket drilled pedals.... on top of OEM drilled pedals?

They are wider which helps with heal-toe on the track. They were just the wrong color from what I ordered. My car is not a show car so function was more important.

Also, they aren't not drilled into the clutch and brake, they are wrapped around them. I had to drill the gas pedal in two locations to mount that one.

Mahjik:

I just looked at rx7.com, to check how much 'meat' each of the pods (2 gauge, and 3 gauge) has, and notice that they both have relatively the same. How much did you actually Dremel off of it?

I guess Ill just order my gauges, and see if I can get them to fit. If not Ill be getting a different pod :P

About 8mm worth... You just take a little off at a time until the gauge fits.

I honestly don't know. I had ordered a set of pedals from a company online about 3-4 years ago. I waited two months and never heard anything after the order. So, I went back out to their site and it was gone. I had my confirmation emails still in my inbox, so I replied back asking what the deal was...

The owner responded that he had so many problems, he closed the store but he wanted to make good on my order. He said he couldn't fill my original order, but would send me two sets free of charge (since I hadn't been charged yet for the original order). While they weren't the color I original wanted (or the brand/style), I couldn't complain about the price.

I've dremeled out MANY gauge pods to put 60mm gauges in - never had a problem.

Check out my review of the Tripower gauge pod - I Dremeled it out for a 60mm gauge -

http://www.clubrx.org/default.asp?id...ntent=27&mnu=3

Also, other good options include Greddy and HKS's universal gauge holders. Greddy's is available for (I believe) either 52mm or 60mm gauges. The base is bendable to conform to a surface, and you can stick or screw it on. HKS's has two "flaps" on either side that are flexible. Comes with double-sided tape on the flaps, and it mounts nicely on top of the dash or wherever.

Oh no wonder, well at least you got a deal on them even if they are a little off in color!
