Gauge install questions

Well I just got my prosport gauge this afternoon, and I have installed it, waiting for the pod, but making sure it works. I got it to turn on, and it does it's thing just fine. I got it to display white, but I need to find a tap for when the interior gauge lights are on. All of the searches I have done have said, just tap the ash tray light, but they do not say where to get to it! arg! So is there any easy tap under the dash? Or where do I find this ash tray light?

Thanks!

*edit*

Also realizing reading more post, I have my switched 12v in the same connection as constant 12v, should I tap something different? If so, what should I tap?

Turn on your interior lights. Remove your ash tray by pulling it off. See that little white light? That's your ash tray light.

Turn off your interior lights.

To get to your ash tray light, you will need to remove the shifter bezel. You'll see two red/black braided wires going into where the light is. That is where you will need to tap into.

Or you can tap your illumination for your stereo deck.

Remove the center console by removing the shift **** first and then prying up slowly from the back. Remove the ashtray light from the holder by gently twisting near the bulb. Take the two wires from the gauge dimmer connector and splice to the two red wires on the ashtray bulb. Use press on spices that don’t require any cutting and can be easily removed without damage to the existing wires.

Note: The dimmer circuit in the RX-7 is not from battery to ground. Do not ground either of the dimmer light circuit wires. If you do you will damage the dimmer in the car and maybe screw up something else too

^This is where I tapped mine for power. Spin off your shift ****, remove the ashtray and carefully pull up on the smooth plastic cover of your console. It's held on by clips, no screws, but they can be a little fragile. You'll see the wires running to the ashtray lamp. IIRC, I used a vampire clamp and then taped over it. The gauage illumation will now dim and brighten with the rest of the dash.
