I have boost, a/f ratio and watter temp on my a-pillar and fuel pressure under the hood. However you can also get that tri-point pod that goes in the place of the center speaker, which is also good because it's right in front of you.
I am looking for where in the cooling system to hook in coolant sensor and so forth.
I am going to put the gauges under the radio so when someone goes by in traffic they wont see them and I 'might" get a race.
I put the boost gauge on the top of the steering column.

Little Miss Mazda,
IMHO the best place to put the water temp sensor is the throttle body coolant hose. that genious DamonB did it like that, so I figure if its good enough for him, its good enough for me.
I did mine in 15 minutes on my lunch break. Just get a Brass T that has NPT fitting in the middle for your sender, 3/8 barb on the other side. Connect the sender to it, then connect the barb to the hose. Its within 2-3 degrees of what the stock sensor shows. Also, it doesn't heatsoak when you shut the car down and start back up like the stock one does.

I have air temp gauge, boost and water. We discussed water.
For the boost, do you have a mechanical or electrical/mechanical? I used to have a mechanical and when I had that I took the rubber condom off the nipple on the manifold and connected the hose from that, throught the passenger side firewall and under my console to the gauge.
Now I have a digital thats electrical. So I have the hose routed the same way, but it goes under the kick panel where my ECU is and my sender is bolted to the chasis. I have the sender wire routed from there to my digital gauge in my console.
I dont have an a/f or EGT. My airtemp gauge sender is mounted into the elbow about 6 inches from the IC endtak or so.
Now for your a/f, if its not wideband, you dont really need to install it. Just hook the gauge up, it will look bling bling (thats all its good for).

egt: depends what brand you got mine is apexi .probe is in front of turbo in manifold (i believe other brands require to be after the turbo)
fuel press:best place would be just in front of regulator (if you got stock regulator i believe you should tap in the fuel line going to injectors)
water temp:.....why?? car already has one??
boost :just take from a nipple from manifold

I want to see my water temps rising and know exactly whats going on before its too late, just a preference I have.

when going 140mph ,i pretty much busy trying to look at my boost ,egt ,a/f ,my RPMs , not to mention while i am looking at the road (as not to make any people/dogs etc roadkill)
i dont know about you but with just those gauges ....my eyes hurt ,to stop and look at my coolant temp and notice that its at 168 instead of 167 deg ,is not really THAT important to me at that moment ,!! i just need to no if its too hot or too cold
maybe its just me

I'm gonna save this post. When you overheat and need a new engine, I'm gonna point and laugh.
dude i am the type of guy that will blow up an engine rather then over heat it ., ive gone through so many engines its not even funny anymore ,and believe it or not i have never EVER over heated an engine even with my stock radiator ...if you know what youre doing water temp is the least of youre worries

And the stock water temp....JUNK. It basically tell you that your fucked if moves past center.
The H20 and oil press. is a must have. As for the A/F and EGT gauges they are more for looks because unless you have a wideband A/F gauge it isn't worth having. As for the EGT - they only really work when given enough time to heat up. This means when you stomp on the gas by the time you let up again your gauge will not have had enough time to heat up but damage could already have been done. As long as you don't have crazy mods without proper pro tuning you won't need those two gauges. A fuel press would be night however, especially if you add NOS.
Felix, it is a well know fact that the stock temp gauge is a piece of crap. It reads 3 temperatures: Cold/Off, warm/normal, and high/overheated/imminent apex seal failure. Counting on the stock gauge for anything more than seeing if the engine is warm enough to use the turbos is foolish.

NO, you don't know the EXACT temp of the system, but you certainly DO see it move when it gets warm. Sits at the upper cold mark on the freeway (180 F, thermostat), moves to the middle, then fans come on, goes back down to ~1/8 off the cold mark. That's 210F in the middle, 190F when fans shut off. Coupled to fan mod, I know all I need to know about temps in my engine. Stock gauge cluster, too
Always put it in the manifold. Everything changes after the turbo. I've seen RX-7s and diesel trucks which are 1800F++ not break an EGT probe.
I personally like to put the boost tap with stock MAP sensor so I would know what the ECU is tuning too.
I would want air temp sensor in the elbow before the throttle body as to avoid heat soak.
I like the location of the stock coolant temp sensor, but the stock gauge sucks. In the block tells you the closest thing possible to what the o-rings are seeing.
edit: oh yeah FP gauge. If you have a SX or aftermarket FPR then add it there else, put it before the pulsation damper, where the hard lines come up from the fuel tank.
