Gauge calibration, someone HELP ME!!!
Very frustrating, I am trying to recalibrate my gauges because awhile back I had a guy on the forum make me a set of custom gauge faces and they were off when he calibrated them for me and I finally am just fed up with it so I put the stock faces back on and I cant get them right. I got the tach and gas good enough but I cant get the other 3, mph, oil, temp. Any help would be GREATLY appreciate, any clues or something. Also if there is one of you out there than can calibrate these things perfectly I would be more than willing to pay you something to get them back to stock, I will ship you my cluster. Someone please help me out, I hate not knowing how fast I am going, especially when I am getting followed by those pesky cops, thanks in advance!!!

OK very simple. Before doing any thing top off the gas tank. Take note on the way home the RPM and speedo tach in a few positions and write it down. ie..
In 3rd gear at 3k rpm you are at what speed?
In 5th gear at 3k rpmyou should be around 80mph.
etc... These numbers will allow you to sync the tach and speddo up to each other.
Ok then take note of your car at idle. where exactly does the needle sit?
And do the same for the oil pressure and temp guage.
So now that you have that info.
When you have the faces chaged out take the white guage cluster and take it out to the car with the needles. Make sure that you dont reassemble the uunit yet , you just want the white section that actually holds the guages for now. Go ahead and rest it in place and plug all the connections back up. Let the car warm and then simple and gently slip the needles back on to the posts in the position that they should be in.
You know the fuel is full, you should know where the temp is when the needle is at running temps. Sme for all the guages.
Now test drive it up the street to make sure that the speedo and tach sync back up toghter like they did before.
If you start by barely slipping the needles on it is easy to take they loose and re adjust them till you havethemm all right.
]Once you do you can unplug it. Take it back inside and reassemblke the rest of the guage cluster and then reiinstall it back in the car.
Good luck.
I just got a pm from someone asking aboout this. So here it is for future reference.
