That's relatively normal.. when you buy any car especially new they note a different gas mileage for city as compared to highway... highway is always higher. You're fine

Maybe location and altitude affect mpg.

With oil heading to $100/barrel, and 92 octane gas going to $4.00/gallon;
is there a set of mods that would improve gas mileage on a third gen,
as opposed to the popular mods that improve power? Ideal would enable switching between power and economy modes. Perhaps anti-knock detectors to allow leanest mixture or lower octane; have ECM delay turbo kick-in to a higher RPM; lower auto tran shift points; color hair grey and get a cane; ... or ...
Just a thought. ... Sorry. Keep up the zooming$

That might work. I get around 12mpg in the city also, it sucks my pockets dry.

Install all the power stuff and then drive like a granny. Stuff that improves power usually also improves efficiency. So, for example, you should be able to make the same amount of power that you did before while burning a little less gas. But its only natural to want to use the new power when you install power parts, so we end up burning more gas anyway.

exact same mods as mine, Lennie... I get that about 16 mpg in city, and 23 mpg on highway... Things we have to put up with to drive the best car out there...

Altitude definately has an effect. The higher altitude the better mpg you get. The difference I see has been when I lived in CO around 6000 feet I typically saw about 25mpg highway, now here in AZ I am lucky to get 22mpg hwy at 1200 feet.
