Gas Light

I never let my car get low enough for the gas light to come even close to on. Well i was going from orlando to tampa and didnt have time to stop and get gas. My pin was below the E line (was waiting for the next exit to get off) and the light still wasnt on. Could the light be burnt out or does it not turn on until your REALLY low on gas? thx- Eric

My needle bottoms out at 200-220 miles or so, the light comes on at 260-280 miles because my fuel level sensor is gas logged and reads lower than it is, sounds like you have the same issue.

Mine makes me nervous every time before it finally comes on - just below "E."

Well of course the light could be burned out, but yeah....mine wouldn't really come on until below the "E"

The car has a 20 gallon tank and IIRC whenever I've been forced to fill up with the light on (usually when I was in the Army driving through bumfuck Oklahoma or Texas looking for a gas station with 93 octane) she took about 18.5 gallons. So, it should come on when you're down to about 1.5 gallons of gas
