The part is surprisingly cheap from Malloy but you have to remove some of the trunk interior plastic panels to install it which is the hardest part. The part replaces the gas door release cable/mechanism, and trunk release cable.

I just need the little plastic/wire thing that pops out and holds the door closed... does anyone sell just that? And Malloy? They have a website?

No, it's all one piece. The little plastic pin that is broken is part of the release cable assembly. It can be removed independently of the cable but I was told they are not sold separately.

I called Mazda and aparentley they are dumb or something because they say the only thing holding the door closed is a rubber gromet thing, I'm like HEY I THINK I WOULD KNOW and they said they had no idea what I'm talking about. Malloy have a site?

no website, but they have a phone number. 888 533 3400 that number will put you to the parts department. Ask for Ray Crowe.

If the little plastic pin is the part that broke off, which is probably is, you can drill into the remaining part of the plastic that did not break off with a screw and shave off the end untill its the right lenght. I did it and it worked fine for 6 months untill I found a new one and had time to replace the cable...

"mine was broken when i got the car, i took a small screw and threaded it into what is left of the plastic, then i ground down the head a little to make it smooth..."
